if i can bring a friend i would like to invite chuck norris:scrutiny:

Okay... I will give it a shot...

10/22
AR-15 .223
AR-10 .308
1911 w/22 conversion (45 ACP & .22 LR)
S&W Model 629 (44 mag and 44 Special)
S&W Model 66 or similar (.38 special and .357 mag)

We all know people that own guns can't count. I'm always one gun short of being happy.

870 Marine Magnum
Mossberg 930 HD/HS - non-tacticool
Glock 26 or maybe a 19
Some kind of 38 or 357 - SP101 or a S&W 686?

too start with id say never any semi autos. the upkeep and the rate of failure is just naturally more than a bolt action. so start with something thats easy to upkeep and will alst longer between cleanings :)

so 2 30/06 rifles/ marlin 444/ 223 bolt action/ 357 maximum revolver.

My Ruger P345- my personal carry/sd/hd weapon. I know it so I will pick it because I am familiar with it.
My Mossberg 12 gauge 7+1 shot gun. Decent capacity and I already have it. Staple for self defense and whatever else I want. Use it to hunt, and other various things.
A full auto Kalashnikov(its the russian in me) because it will ALWAYS fire. And its not too hard to convert them(every russian knows how)
A Ruger Charger(for hunting small stuff)
and an AR-50 for the 50 cal BMG's. This covers everything I think I would need. Long range, short range, whatever in between. The versatility of the many different types of 50 cal ammo is what is great.

Heres a sample of my arsenal.

Mossberg 500 persuader - home defense, multi purpose gun

Taurus 82 .38spl - CCW gun, range toy

Remington Wingmaster 870 - rabbit/small game gun

Taurus PT140 .40s&w - CCW gun

Winchester model 94 30/30 - deer gun

a good pump 12ga
a centerfire bolt action or lever gun in a common caliber
an AR, AK, M1A, or FAL type rifle
a good bolt or semiauto in 22lr
a quality pistol of the users preference

just my opinion

a savage 14 american classic left hand with a black accustock and accutrigger, with a leupold mark 4 lr/t riflescope. caliber .308
a hk 416, caliber .223, with a leupold prismatic 1x14 tact. illum. recticle
a CZ 75B, caliber 9mm with a green dot laser grip
a remington model 870 TAC desert recon, 12 guage, with night sights
a mk 19 grenade launcher belt fed automatic 40 mm grenade launcher, with night vision camera

-that, would be if i had to fight in a civil war.

this, is what i would choose for ordinary use

a savage 14 american classic left hand with wood accustock and accutrigger caliber .308
a CZ 75B, caliber 9mm
a remington model 1100 shotgun, in either 12 or 20 guage
a taurus judge revolver, caliber 45 long colt or 410 guage
a piston operated semi auto .22 lr cal in an hk 416 format

CZ 550 American .30-06
CZ VZ-58 7.62x39 Rifle
CZ P-01 9mm
CZ 452 .22 LR
Older Remington 870 that doesn't suck like the new ones

geez Matrix, I like CZs, but dang man.

You LOVE em.

I will say the p01 is my favorite 9mm, and the 453 is such a great 22lr, maybe you arent so far off :)

I dunno about the vz-58 tho.

Never did like that one.

What would be a great (limit 5)
IMO a civilian would have a collection of weapons, the military would have an arsenal/armaments: a stockpile of weapons and military equipment.

IMO a good collection would be: (1) 12 ga shotgun for hunting and HD (2) .243 vermit rifle (3) .40 cal semi auto sub compact (SD) (4) .380 cal semi auto (SD backup) (5) .22 cal pistol or rifle for target practice
I try not to use that word, arsenal, around my wife, I catch hell for my small "collection"

Ruger Single 6 - plinker

Soeger coach gun 12ga - home defense

Taurus Tracker .44 6" barrel - anti-personel

NEF .410 break barrell - small game gun

Colt SAA .45 - heirloom/toy

I love these posts. Makes me think about what I can and can't live without and it's very subjective to each individual. FWIW, I went 15+ years with only four firearms and was content and happy. I now have more but I'm not sure it makes me that much happier.

1. Home Defense.
I (again all of this is my personal opinion and it's no better than anyone else's opinion) think a shotgun is the best home defense weapon. I'd be tore between a Mossberg 590A1 (pump with rear ghost ring sight) and Mossberg 930 SPX (semiauto w ghost ring sight). I'd probably pick the 590A1 as I think it would be just a bit more reliable. In terms of Mossberg vs. Remmington - to me it's a Ford vs. Chevykind of thing. I think both brands are great.

2. Back up Home Defense, potential CCW.
It would be a handgun in 45 ACP and the choice for me would be between a Sig 220 or the Springfiled XD 5" tactical. Since I currently don't have a CCW, I'd go with a Sig 220. I wanted one for about 20 years and just love the way it shoots. In CA, capacity is limited to 10 rnds so capacity is a moot point. If I had a CCW I would go with the Springfield XD 45 ACP in either the 4" or 5" model given it weights less than the Sig. I'd also get a 22 LR conversion kit for the Sig. If they have one for the XD I'd do that as well. Some could call this cheating but I don't see it that way since it's the same lower receier.

3. Serious firepower to cover just about any scenario.
I'd go with an M1A from LRB Arms or Springfield. I am aligned with Jeff Cooper when it comes to the superiority of a 30 cal round. A close second choice would be an M1 Garand.

4. Something fun & inexpensive to shoot
My top two choices would be either a Ruger 10-22 or Mk II/III. I'd go with the 10/22. I like 22's and they don't cost much to shoot. Also, you can buy sights to mimic miliary sights and practice basic marksman ship for real cheap. Also good for hunting small game.

5. Something fun with a practical side.
My top two contendors would be either a Rem 700 in .308 or a Marlin 336 in 30-30. To be perfectly honest I would miss either of these. If push came to shove, I think I'd lean towards my Rem 700. It's got sub MOA, can easily touch out to 600 yards, and I can hunt just about anything on the lower 48 states with it.

I find it interesting that with the exception of the Marlin 336, I wouldn't miss the other stuff I have. Having said that, I'm not going to sell them.

To sum it up.
1. Mossberg 590A1 12 ga pump shotgun
2. Sig P220 45 ACP (w 22 LR conversion kit when I want to plink)
3. Springfield or LRB Arms M1A in 7.62x51 (.308 Win)
4. Ruger 10/22 rifle 22LR
5. Rem 700 in .308 Win

2) 22 Rifle (light weight ammo)
3) 22 Hand gun (light weight ammo)
4) Semi Auto (hand gun with interchangeable barrels EX: 22, 40, 45) ease of ammo availability
5) 357/38 wheel gun Reliability

A good five gun starter arsenal? Lets say a .22 rifle for small game and practice--make mine a Ruger 10/22 or a Savage bolt. Then we need a semi-automatic for general defense/SHTF/civil unrest/zombie apocalypse use. Make mine an M1A Scout. A FAL, AK, or AR would also work, among others. Then I would get a good full size handgun--revolver or auto, whatever you prefer--for bed stand use. I'll take either my SIG P220 .45 or my Glock 20 10mm Auto for this role. A compact handgun, again, revolver or auto, it doesn't matter, for CCW, would also come in handy. If SIG made a P228 or 229 in SAO 9mm, it would be an obvious choice for me. As they do not, I have to say I am considering a G30SF or a G19. That makes four. The last can go to a 12 gauge pump action, preferably with an 18 to 20 inch IC barrel so as to be suitable for home defense. I prefer the Rem M870. Or you can get a designated hunting rifle. Any quality bolt gun chambered for any popular cartridge suitable for the game being hunted should work fine. I've traditionally hunted with Rem M700s but have become intrigued by CRF actions, so make mine a Pre-64 Win M70 clone.

So that leaves me with:
1. Ruger 10/22 .22LR
2. Springfield Armory M1A Scout 7.62x51/.308 Win
3. Glock 20 10mm Auto
4. Glock 30 .45 ACP
5. Montana Rifleman Co. M1999, LH stainless short action, 7mm WSM with a 24 inch #4 or 5 contour tube, in a High-Tech Specialties or McMillan stock should suffice, as the market is nearly devoid of commercial CRF bolt actions for southpaws.

Sounds fun;

Top quality semi-auto pistol, I'd say a SIG in .357SIG

Great quality, multi purpose bolt rifle, say a Rem700 in .308 or thirty-ought.

A M1 Garand (No collection is complete without one)

A .22LR rifle for hunting, bolt or semi depending on local laws (or how much you care about them :)

Finally, a good quality MODERN battle rifle. Call it a FN/FAL or a AR-10. If you ALREADY had a Garand, and the bolt gun, I suppose a .223/5.56 AR would fit in. Of course, you've already got a .22 :)

You'll note, no shotgun. I personally have little to no use for them, I can't see them doing something that a well-aimed rifle can't do. I also don't like bruising up my shoulder on range day.

I think we'd all agree that some quality, semi-auto pistol is a requirement, same with the .22LR rifle.

As for the bolt action thirty ought or .308... you can load it for everything from rabbits (stretching it, for sure) to moose. you could do an African hunt with a thirty-ought if you weren't interested in elephants or buffalo.

The Garand... I suppose if you wanted to get "just" a FN/FAL or similar battle rifle, you could leave the Garand off the list. What would you replace it with, though? I guess if you had the battle rifle category covered, you could fit an AR in here somewhere. I like the simplicity of the Garand, combined with it's awesome, devastating power.

As for the battle rifle.... Nothing can take it's place. It's your own "Liberty Tooth".

YMMV, of course.

remington 870
tikka T3 tactical 308 with silencer

This is what I would get if limited to five -

AR M4gery
Springfield M1A
Remington 870 Wingmaster
Springfield Custom Carry
CZ 452

That's a carbine, a MBR, shotgun, pistol, and .22 rifle. Should cover all the bases.
