i'd buy another 20k thousand pistol rounds, but since this is rifle country, i'd spend it on rifle bullets and powder and primers

If I were to buy another rifle in that price range right now it would be an Anschutz .22.

Since your question is what I would buy, it would be "none". I have every rifle that I want/need/can use.

If I had to spend it, I'd get 2k worth of reloading stuff and/or .22 ammo. If it didn't have to be gun related, it would be pre 64 silver coins

If you have to ask strangers how to spend your money, might think about hanging on to it until you really need it.

I wouldn't know which way to jump

    Firearms Related-
    Build up the reloading stock
Get a Colt Anaconda in 45 Colt
    Get a S&W 625-5 with a full underlug barrel in 45 Colt
Get a Colt 6920 and SBR it. Saw one at the LGS coated in FDE
Get a Tavor. One of the nicest bullpups I've seen yet
Sell the PTR91 and go hunting for an original Belgian FAL
Get another PPQ M1 and a bunch of mags

    Other-
    Buy a used Cherokee

Build a AR and get lots of ammo and mags. Also finish up getting the stuff I need to make my sks period correct and a bunch of ammo for it as well.

The Tavor, SCAR, M14 and piles of ammo all seem like great options but when I looked up the CZ 750 on THR search function I saw a thread in 2008 where I talked about getting one. I think six years is long enough to wait, its time.

I would purchase 10 more tax stamps for NFA Form 1's and be another year older when I actually have them in hand.:cuss:

For me, $2k would buy: an HD shotgun and a small longun safe for the bedroom closet (call it $650 together), and S&W 4506-1 sitting in the gun case at one local gun emporium ($499) and a 3913 at another ($425), a Bladetech holster for my PPS (about $65) and reloading components with the rest.

Me personally? The biggest gunsafe I could get, and I'd want to add as much extra cash as I could. But that's what I NEED, a good, large safe.

I'd buy a walther pps in 9mm with magazines and holsters. I'd take a defensive pistol class and bring along a fullsize 9mm. I'd spend the rest on ammo.

Oh wait, is this about rifles? Then I'd get a really nice M1 from the CMP, and the remaining balance in ammo.

Still need a big safe though.

    Rifle 1:

    BCM AR-15 or Colt 6920
    Light mount
    Free float rail
    Handstop
    Viking Tactics sling
Quality front and rear night sights
    20 mags

Use the rest for optics and mount: either an Aimpoint Micro or Burris MTAC. You may have to save up for awhile to get enough money for the optic.

    Rifle 2:

    M1 Garand refurb for $950
    Lots of clips
    Lots of ammo

Vest and something to hold clips:

    Rifle 3:

Bolt action rifle in 308 Winchester
    Bipod
    Sling
    High quality optic

I wouldn't spend it all on any one thing, I'd divvy it up on a couple different wants.

    1. A reloading kit, probably a RCBS Rock Chucker, plus extras. ~ $500
    2. About $1000 in reloading components; half for 9mm Luger, half for .30-06
    3. Another Glock

There's your two grand, very well spent. :p

Ammo. I've got most of my rifle needs filled currently. More ammo is always needed. It would either be in component form to reload or in factory ammo. I'd probably split it and do some of each. Still, consumables are always good to have on hand. More rifles do little if you can't feed them.

Probably a Sig P210 Legend Target model - maybe the best pistol ever made. But I can think of a lot of stuff I'd like to have in that price range. I have rigs that are close to that ball park but that's glass and a rifle. I have a Sig P220 (an older "Made In W. Germany model) that shoots extremely well but supposedly the P210 was a good bit more accurate because of the design. The price is a bit over the $2000 limit but I'd stand on a street corner with a tin cup to get the extra cash for one of those puppies.

Bigger isn't always better. A better quality safe means a lot. I bought a Fat Boy Jr. for around $1000 which was a pretty good combination of quality and size IMO. It certainly isn't the best safe available but I had a budget and I needed some room. I'd still like to have a much better quality safe but just moving this one around (we've had to move twice in the past year and a half because of the work situation) can be a big headache. It's hard to find someone to move a safe for a reasonable amount of money and doing it yourself is fine if you have the right equipment. Unfortunately I don't have that equipment at this point.

I just got a Colt LE 901 with that. And I couldn't be happier, got it sighted in today.

A Garand, some ammo (components, actually), and a membership at the local club.

The 2k might be a little light but a Tavor bullpup is on my bucket list.

I'd pay off a year's worth of mortgage principal, because what I really want is to be able to afford a less stressful, more satisfying job.
