So, I picked up some round nose lead 45 acp ammo for my HK and after stopping home before the range I read that I should not be using non-jacketed rounds due to the barrel on my hk.

So, now I have around 150 rounds of this stuff and I can't really use it.

I tried a few mags and checked out the barrel and it did seem to leave a visible amount of lead behind. So, I quit shooting it and cleaned it out when I got hom.

So, being a "I just need one more" guy, I'm looking to find a gun for my ammo :)

I'm planning on reloading anyways, so I'm telling myself I can just buy a gun to shoot this stuff, have a new toy and have some more 45 cases to reload.

My HK is a USP Compact Tactical (threaded barrel)

What would you get? New Barrel for my HK that's not threaded. Or another 45.

I was thinking of getting a full frame 1911, since I don't own one yet.

Any suggestions for a 1911?

I usually don't buy guns I need to replace, and I don't mind paying a little extra to get something that's nice. I just don't want to break the bank on a 3k 1911 for my first foray into them.

Suggestions?

Lead down the barrel of most semi-autos isn't the best thing. If it's only a 150 rounds, you'll probably be okay with your H&K, just be sure to clean it well.

Now, if you want a nice 1911 for reasonable price, then it is tough to beat the offerings from Springfield Armory. The Mil-Spec, Loaded or new Range Officer models all give you alot for your money and equally they are well made. I prefer full size 5" barrel 1911s.

If you want to shoot lead .45acp ammo, look into a .45acp S&W revolver. I think it's the model 625.

I'll start checking out the Springfield's. Being new to the 1911 I'm still not sure what manufacturers are decent and what ones to avoid.

Thank you

Shoot it, keep an eye on the barrel leading, and clean it REALLY WELL before shooting jacketed ammo.

I shoot lead through poly barrels all the time, just follow the above mantra. I use a SS brush to get the lead out. The only gun I didn't ever do it with was my Desert Eagle. With them, it's not the poly rifling, but the gas system you have to worry about.
