I have another itch, this time its for a 9mm for carry, target and IDPA. I am a huge Sig fan and really like the time tested 226. The new polymer 250 looks really nice and has a pretty light trigger, its also converts to other calibers.

I had a 229 which I really liked but was a bit small for my hands. Any suggestions?

If the P229 was too small for your hands, the P250 will probably also be too small (you must have some big mitts :scrutiny: )

The P226 has the biggest grip out of all of the Sigs. It's a full size double stack gun.
I shoot a P226 in IDPA and do very well with it. They also make great range guns. You can use them as a CCW, but they aren't as easy to conceal as some of the other model Sigs.
If you want a DAO, you can get the P226 with the DAK trigger. The pull is longer than the P250, but IMHO its a good trigger. There are some that will disagree, but everybody has an opinion, and thats mine ;)

I don't have a P250 (yet) but I do have a P229 and a P226.
Here are some pictures that might help with the size difference. The P229 has the wood grips.

I agree with One Blind Ref. If the P229 is too small for you then your day job must involve palming basketballs.

I can't comment on the P250, but the P226 is a great pistol, especially the newest generation with the rail and solid roll pin. I have one in .40 and I like it.

On a side note, I've always wondered why Sig can't cram one more round into the magazine for the P226 .40/.357. Ref's pictures really drive that home. If the P229 takes a twelve round mag, why can't they make a thirteen round mag for the P226? Just one of those mysteries.

Yes, I noticed that MecGar started making 13-round Sig .40 mags in the 14 months since I last posted. I like Top Gun Supply for such things.

I must agree with 1blindref. If the P229 is too small then the P250 definitely will be. I'm 6'-0" and the P250 Compact is plenty big for my hand. When I first got my 250 I was concerned about the long (DAO) trigger pull. You know what happened next? I got used to it! My first shot was spot on! This is a true case for the tool being better than the user. I really liked the "feel" of the 226 when I was researching but now am totally pleased with the 250. You can't go wrong with either. If the 229 or 250 is still too small, check out Kimbers.

I own both the P226 and the P250.

The P226 is a full-size handgun, and I don't recommend it as a conceal carry gun. It's a 'holster gun' best worn on your side.

The P250 is a GREAT gun at a GREAT price. I'm sure you know that the P250 is a modular gun that allows you to change calibers, gun size (full-size, compact, subcompact), and grips sizes.

I love both guns!

I thinking that a thread that started 3 years ago and was last posted in over 2 years ago, asking what to buy would have been resolved by now
