So Ive got a LNIB S&W Shield that im going to get rid of posted on Armslist. Ive got three trade offers so far, and I cant decide on which one to take. First is a Beretta PX4 9mm full size which I know retails for more than the Shield. Second is a Ruger p95 (sadly discontinued) which retailed for less than the Shield. And third is a Canik Shark C which retails for around the same as the Shield. Ive had a p95 and liked it but have never had any experience with the PX4 or Shark. I know Beretta is a reputable brand, but there is something special about an all metal gun (Canik). Ive also heard nothing but positive reviews on the Canik's, but then again it is hard to mess up a CZ75. Im not so much worried about making or losing money on the trade, I just want something different. PLEASE, help me decide.

Any hands on experience with these guns would be appreciated.

Of those options, canik. The px4 is a good gun but it's one that doesn't seem to fit many people really well. I'm not sure why. It's also one of the ugliest guns on the planet which sent me running the other way. The p95 is also a good gun, but unless you have been missing the one you got rid of, this one also would go away. That leaves the canik which is a great gun and seems to be a hit with a large portion of the market.

I would go with the Beretta PX4. It's a much better fit in my hand than the Model 92 and I have always been pleased with Beretta quality and customer service. Next would be the Canik Shark C; have read mostly positive reviews of the gun but have no first hand knowledge of it. Last would be the Ruger P95. Too bulky and never cared much for the gun's overall design and ergonomics.

I have the "all-metal" fore- runner of the Beretta PX4 , the Cougar, and it is a great gun for the money of which I paid $369. Of the ones you listed I would buy the PX4.

I'd have to go with the Canik.....now if it was a Ruger P89 that'd be a different story.

Yep, what he^ said. I've been hoping to stumble onto a deal on one of these old Ruger's, they're really solid guns. But given the options, I like the Canik. I've been reading nothing but rave reviews on them for some time now, and a good buddy got one a few months ago that is a great little pistol (in fact, i'm almost positive it's also a Shark). It's also going to be more carry-freindly than any of the old Rugers.

I'd take the Beretta if in good condition. I had a Cougar and I like the rotating barrel design. It was accurate as all get out. I imagine the PX4 would be as well.

The PX4 is a very under rated design IMO.

Just an update. I got the Canik. Just met the guy an hour ago so I havent really got to have any fun with it yet. But just so yall know, the fit and finish is great for the price point of the gun, and the slide feels like it's on ice. Super slick. And to be an all metal gun with an advertised weight of 26.24 oz, it does not feel even close to that, feels around the same as my glock 26.
