What's the best gun for all situations and people?
You can pick one model of firearm. It has to be able to be fired by one person.
You have to factor in every possible climate, situation, and use, and also availability of parts, ammo, etc, and how likely people are to encounter said uses/situations, etc.

It's the most difficult question asked here in a while.

What do you choose?

^^^I knew that would happen.

C'mon, the one you have when you need it? What about the other 7 billion people on this earth?

No gun-wit, please.

Are we restricted to handguns?

If so, either the Ruger GP-100 or S&W 686. You can't go wrong with either and they're so versatile they'll meet your needs.

Oh, and I'm an auto-loader guy, so big props to the wheel guns.

Finally, the "the one you have when you need it answer" is, IMHO, the best. You'll realize this if you're ever in the unfortunate situation wherein you need to use your CCW.

Am I in a survival situation? Is there large game? Is that large game large enough that it will just be pissed off by .223? What are the chances I have to repel attacks from another human? Are there extremely large, aggressive bears? Am I in the jungle, or will I be facing nothing but long shots? Do I have reasonably unlimited ammo, or do I need to steal from abandoned stores?

Generally, with no clear statement of the situation, I would probably default to any modern infantry rifle.

OP, did somebody hack into your account? Anybody that has been shooting for a while and had experience with different firearms knows there is no one best gun for all situations.

There isn't one, your question is flawed from the start.

If forced to pick based only on that criteria I'd choose minigun.

Closed for silliness.

What's the most useless thread ever?

There is no single solution for every situation. Start other threads if you want to supply specific demands to meet.
