What's the best shot you ever made?

9 er 10 years old,Ben Pearson 15# stick bow with a hardware store bot .79 cent
'target' arrow. Chipmunk running up a tree at about 25 yards away. The tree was about 4"s' thick.Took a snap shot and put the arrow thru his neck 'pinning' him to the tree. He actualy spun around on that arrow by the neck fer a minute or three 'till he died.
Pure luck, Back then i couldn't hit the field the barn was in with an arrow.
I actualy did grow up to become that good with a bow as an adult tho.

'spose my best shot with a gun was actualy 5 shots.
I shot a 5 round .226 100 yard group with my handbuilt .220 Swift.

Had a house in NC with 16 acres. A few years ago we had something killing our ducks at the pond about 200 yards from the house. It was around midnight and I heard neighbors dogs barking. Grabbed my 10/22 ruger and spotlight and went outside. Saw something going across our pasture near pond. Had spotlight in one hand and rifle in other, turned on light and saw fox moving across pasture. Put rifle on top of light and fired 1 shot. Nailed the fox in the heart.

These stories are fantastic, keep 'em coming.
I love the differing versions we all hold dear; whether it's a tank round or a snowball.

Drew and fired one handed aiming for the head and shot the b27 target right in the eyeball at 25 yards with a .40 cal Springfield XD. Had one witness.

55 yd knockdown on a standing sandhill crane with a 9mm ruger SR9c, then hit him again when he attempted to get airborne.

175 yards offhand on a 10 pointer with a deer rifle. Not much compared to some, but that's a LONG shot in northern MN.

Back when going to Ferris State (now) University, my friend, Luther and I were hunting... for whatever. A big ole' rabbit shot out about 20 yds in front of us.. flat out running... I shot from the hip with an old 12ga sxs, and just rolled him! He gave me the then popular 'I'm not worthy! bow...' funniest thing I've ever experienced hunting! Laugh about it to this day! :D

Beer can at 65 yards with a .38 from a 3" SP101. It took me five shots to get the elevation right, since it was a few feet up a small hill. Anyway, I beat my best friend, and that made it even better.

This is a good one haha. Back when i was in high school me and my buddy went to play some paintball against each other in the woods by his house. This was before we really got into it and all we had were some cheap pump guns.

Well i was going through the woods looking for him and had no idea where he was. For whatever damn reason i just fired a ball in the air and a few seconds later i hear... "aww you son of a bitch". I see him walking up a hill about 60 or 70 yards away with a paint splotch on his shoulder lol.

A few months ago I was on the range and before I packed up I decided to take a few shots with my Bodyguard 380. Another guy was already shooting so instead of going downrange I decided to just shoot at some pieces of broken clay pigeon that were on the berm behind the 25 yard target. I was about three positions down and shooting behind the target so it was about 30 yards. The pieced were about 2 inches across and I hit 9 out of ten standing offhand. The guy watching at the end of the benches commented, "Wow, that was amazing shooting!" I just replied, "Yeah, I don't even believe that myself. Of course you never have it on video when you shoot like that and I don't think I could do that again in my lifetime." Oh well. At least I know if I miss its me not the gun.

i once shot a crow standing in the field out the living room window of my trailer house that i lived in at that time. 150 yrds with a iron sighted ruger 10/22 with cheap ammo.1 shot one kill.i was pretty proud of that.no dang witnesses tho.

my dad came an got me one day cuz a coyote was bothering sum calves.he couldnt get close enuf to it with his 30-30.and i had the only scope sighted rifle on the place.we drove up and the yote took off at high speed.i had to wait a bit till he cleared into a good shooting lane prob 275 yrds away.popped one shot with my model 7 rem 243 and he rolled. course dad couldnt see that far and he called <removed>.to him nobody cud make that shot.we drove over there and sure enuf there was a dead half mangy yote.i just acted like i did that stuff all the time.it was hilarious.

my deceased gpa years ago gave me a win hi wall in 32-40. it had been in his family since around 1900.he said one year he was out hunting with the hired hand, a chezk feller. and a flock of geese flew over.the hand aimed at the first goose in the v and the last goose on the left side folded up and fell dead.they ate good that nite.he had lots of storys about that gun. i still have it.

Second year I took my Remington 700 in 30-06 to the range to sight in for deer season.

Side note, the rifle came with a scope, and the year before it drove me nuts because the aluminum rings were to weak to hold the scope. Sportsmans Warehouse did me a solid and gave me free Buris steel rings and fixed the issue, but I didn't get much range time in after that.

Took it out the next year. I went to the range to sight it in. It was hot, and I didn't want to stay long. Put my bullseye target out 150 yards.
I'll never forget it, guy next to me is chatting and asking what I'm doing. I told him if I hit the bullseye on my first shot I'm leaving. I did, I couldn't believe it and the look on that guys face was priceless. Put the rifle down, and sat back to relax until the lanes were cleared to pick up targets.

Mine was with a 10/22 also, with the iron sights. Shot a quarter out of a tree branch at a distance where it was barely visible, when I was in my early 20's.I don't know the distance, as it was some 40 yrs ago, but I never expected to hit it, let alone on the first shot.

Shot a mockingbird off my chimney with a Red Ryder BB gun. Was around 30 feet away, could only see the head, and had to arc the shot in. Darn thing was squawking every morning up there and echoing through the whole house. The bird survived and flew off, but never came back.

A5 12 guage Browning, full choke. Cheap Remington deer slug. Factory bead sight. Took out a coyote at 110 paces offhand. Hit him in the bottom of his neck. Droped like a rock. Could never do that again in a million years.

Snap shot on a pheasant in Kansas. First pheasant hunt with my dad and his buddies. Honestly didn't know if it was a hen or a rooster, luckily it was a rooster. It happened at the end of the hunt, in front of the land owner and the whole crew. I was 14. My dad acted like it was no big deal, others were impressed. Dad still tells that story when we all get together.
The other shot was at a snapper turtle, I'd guess 75 yards. Shot with an old 30-30. Exploded with turtle parts flying in all directions, my brother said it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. Him being 12, he probably hadn,t seen much yet. On a sad note, went by that old pond just today, developers have drained and leveled it. Building a sub division on my youthful stomping ground.

I just remembered another one.

How about getting a limit of 8 quail on the wing with a single-shot 12 ga, and three shots??

Course, the crazy Irish Setter bird-dog I had jumped 5' in the air and caught 5 of them at the covey breaks before I could get a shot off without shooting her.

O.K. then, SO that doesn't count then??

Certaindeaf,
More like loon, actually.

In reality, the breasts ARE pretty tasty in you slice them thin, flour them and fry 'em fast in butter.
