Odd lot of pistols you're looking at :).

I'd probably get the Daewoo out of those. Depending on what you mean by budget though I think the Ruger P95 is hard to beat.

I don't know much about them (though I kicked around the idea of a Star B).

I do have a P95 and it's a great gun. I should warn you though, it's something of a gateway drug. It was my first firearm and I got it for less than $200. Since then I've bought others and spent much more.

My only concern is the Star uses proprietary mags. The Daewoo uses S&W 5906 magazines and the Arcus takes both BHP mags and parts.

@ Onward, I might agree but this guy sounds like he has a $300 budget for the pistol, and he still needs to find magazines too. Show me a $300 CZ.

Ok...how's about a $350 or less clone of a CZ?

Canik Stingray
Tangfolio Force 9mm Polymer
Canik C120 or 100

To name a few.

You might want to consider the Stoeger Cougars or Bersa Thunder Pros. The quality of these pistols far exceeds their relatively inexpensive price IMO.

I had a DP51 and the aforementioned Cougar. These were the only two guns I ever sold off. Although I think the Cougar is a great gun, just not for me.

DP51: super short trigger reach. Suitable only if you have small hands, IMO. I had to use the second section of my trigger finger to pull the trigger. Or curl my finger over and press the trigger with my fingertip.

Also, the slide lock is not a good design. The lever peens where the spring rests against it, and the spring is really gimp, and the mag follower doesn't make good contact on the leverl. So the gun doesn't lock back on the last round, hardly ever.

Safety is really gimp, too. Not positive in feel/action.

Cougar: nearly the perfect gun. I couldn't get myself to like the upright grip angle.

+1 on the Bersa: excellent ergos and is very easy to shoot, accurately. It's one of the better CC guns out there, IMO.

Of the three listed I would go with the Star Model B. Had one years ago; was a great shooter and extremely reliable.

Eclectic list for sure. I would also suggest a CZ or CZ clone. Tanfoglio, Canik, etc. Nothing wrong with a BHP clone like the Arcus or FEG. Can't speak to the others.

Of the three on the list, I would take the DP51, but there are much better choices out there, personally, I would pick an S&W 5906.

Up until the recent madness, they went for less than 230 on Gunbroker. 915's are the best deals out there on full size 9mm's even at 300 a piece.
