Living in Minnesota during the winter of '95. -60. Windchill of -150. :what:

At that temperature, you walk outside with hot coffee, chuck it out of your cup, and it bounces off the ice. And it's frozen by the time it hits again. Throw boiling water into the air and it turns directly to steam. Not even my ever-faithful Suburban would start, and the cats(who hated being confined) disappeared under the bedclothes for a week.

I live in Arizona now. :D

Encountered? North Atlantic on a Destroyer. We used mauls to break the ice off of the VLS decks, it took forever. Those Mustang survival suits are the best thing in the universe, I was seating in mine. Hunted in? -7 in the Blueridge Mountains. I was using flight deck boots and had a couple layers of clothes on... I was so cold that as I climbed down in my climbing tree stand, I couldn't feel my legs.

Been through that one. Jelled the diesel in my truck solid - back in those days we had to mix regular gas with the diesel to keep it from becoming solid (can't do that with the newer diesels). The problem with that cold is that it comes with the 100% humidity and the cold damp just penetrates right through all your layers.

-30F in Gunnison, CO

+1 I've seen it to -45F in Gunnison, but I' not hunting at that temp.:) -32F with the wind blowing just after Christmas this past winter was my last hunt. Then the DOW shut down all hunting in Gunnison county until MAY 15 because of the severity of the winter. Out hiking today with the family I saw 11 mule deer carcasses in 2 miles along the trail. Huge mortality rate this winter. The DOW is only issuing 105 doe licenses for the 5 units that encompass our valley. That equates to 7 tags per unit per season this fall. I hope my kids or I get lucky. We need the meat to fill the freezer for the year. The Coyotes sure got fat this winter. Going to be plenty of them to tag starting next week..

Pheasant hunting this past winter north of ABerdeen, South Dakota it was 30 below when we woke up and didn't top 10 below all day.

Good shooting. we were moving a ton and sweating up a storm.
