The most expensive gun I bought in relation to income was a Johnson 1941 rifle.
I don't spend a good chunk of money on a gun without doing extensive research beforehand....that's why I'm happy with the purchases and still have them. Not really important how much they cost, but the quality is there.
I very foolishly offered to trade a guy for it, offering to fix his computer. Took me 42 hours. Ouch! And before you say "Ain't computers just a couple of hundred bucks?", back then a cheap desktop was about $4,000.
Am I the 1st to notice this......bring where?
I think I spent over $1,500 in custom work on a Commander I spent about $5-600 on.
I took a week leave to go spend with Jim Garthwaite building my up own 1911 from an unfinished frame. Including the parts, a week off work, the hotel and food, and Jim's fee that's probably the most expensive.
I've spent more ON my Colt 6920 because I can't seem to stop shooting it and I've gone through several accessories that I've changed my mind on later.
MSRP today is $2495.
MSAR STG-556 ~ $1000
Not the most expensive guns in the collection. My father has some Nazi Lugers that are worth more than my life.
In keeping with Cajun's theme, I guess my Remington 760 would be my most expensive at $139.00 plus 3x9 Redfield scope. I had my father buy for me when I was 14. At a $1.50 an hr. it took a lot of grass cutting to save enough for it.
And yes I still have it 42yrs. later.
Other than that, I treated my myself to a Browning XS Special 12ga. O\U a few years ago.
