Now that our side has won a fairly considerable victory, what are we going to do to continue to push back and now go on the offense? I would suggest continuing to recruit and sign up more NRA members (or GOA or group of choice) and donate to these organizations..any amount. Back in Jan-Feb, I signed up 3 or 4 new NRA members. I would suggest and hope that we can continue to expand the ranks...

Winning the battle does not mean we have won the war. I believe that there are good and valid reasons to oppose the Senate bill, but media and the anti-gun crowd may ultimately be successful in portraying the expanded background check bill as eminently reasonable. Pro-gun forces may yet be labeled right wing fanatics, even more than we already are looked at that way by the gun control crowd. While most gun owners who are paying attention to anti-gun individuals who admit that their ultimate aim is confiscation, and that despite the so-called safeguards against creating a registry we know that is exactly what they will try to do with the results of all background checks, the truth is that the average citizen does not understand nor is interested in these fine points of the bill. They may see background checks as something we already do, just a bit more comprehensive. Next time they may go for broke with some really draconian restrictions on our gun rights, and I have no doubt that there will be a next time since there is real evil in the world. I'm personally not at all sure whether we should quietly hope that the gun issue fades from the public scrutiny, or to push for new laws that reinforce our 2nd Amendment rights.

Lots of bluster coming from the other side right now. Obama vows to 'continue the fight' against our "lies".

Harry Reid said that his pulling of the bill should be considered a "pause" to regroup, and that his plan is to flip a few more Senators and bring the bill up again soon.

How true that is, you'll have to judge for yourself. But I see no reason not to take them at their word. A little arm-twisting ("your state sure could use that defense contract") and things like this can change pretty quickly.

Be vigilant.

Obama needs to get it through his thick skull that he does what the people want, not that the people do want he wants! He is a sore loser and vindictive. Expect some real dirty and shady stuff now that he didn't get his way. There will probably be more impeccably timed problems and pushes for further infringement. UBC will be next on his list. IMHO a lot of the recent events seemed fishy.

It's a Red Herring

This bill is nothing more than a red herring.

Sen. Feinstein, the American Caesar Obama and Libs knew the bill never stood a chance at becoming law. The plan was for the Senate to pass it where it would fail in The House. The Dems would then used the failure of The House Republicans to pass reasonable gun control against them in the 2014 elections.

Make no mistakes here. The Dems real objective is too win back The House in 2014. If they can do that they will have two years to pass anything they want.

The real danger now is too watch for gun control bill to be attached as a Amendment to a big bill such as defense spending which the Republicans support.

This is comming to a head and we are preaching to the Choir here.
I would submit to you that informing your family members and gifting NRA memberships might be a good idea.
About 3 months of reading "The Armed Citizen" page and folks begin to understand why we have a Second Ammendment.

PUSH BACK HARD
If you haven't taken to Twitter and Facebook to thank those voted against and call out those that forgot their Oath, do so NOW, the anti's are running a CONCENTRATED CAMPAIGN to try to shame our senators for blocking this.

Reid (yeah dirty harry) changed his vote in a parliamentary trick, to allow him to, until close of Congress, bring it back up, AT ANY TIME.

PUSH, keep the pressure on, cause the Anti crowd, is doubling down

Whats the plan now?
Now that our side has won a fairly considerable victory, what are we going to do to continue to push back and now go on the offense?

I for one would be ''all in favor'' of impeachment proceedings of a few select Senators.
Would implement a moment of pause; one thing high exalteds types really don't want to lose, is their power & prestige. No more Sunday morning talk shows, envelopes of money.

The 2014 and 2016 elections are coming. We should not forget what the current elected officials are trying to do to us.

As already mentioned, we should go on the offensive. Instead of just sitting back and letting the anti-gun people present what they want to see enacted, we should present what we want to see enacted.

Overturning the Gun Control Act of 1968 should be a priority of ours. Since the anti-gun folks feel that more legislation is necessary that means that the GCA '68, and all other federal gun laws, must not be working and should be repealed.

We also should be pushing for national Constitutional carry. Whenever the anti-gun people say that they support the Second Amendment we should tell them to prove it. If they think that universal background checks are so important and will make such a huge difference then why is it that they still wouldn't trust us even after UBC is passed?

I would be interested to know how many of you actually belong to a political party?? Of those who do, how many actually participate in choosing the person who will run for that party???

I suspect they are reformulating the UBC as we speak. They will have it ready for the next "crisis". That could be tomorrow, or in a decade. Either way, the antis will not give up.

Keep up the pressure on state levels. If you can afford it help out other states that are in trouble. Make sure you belong to the NRA and whatever your local (state) level pro 2A group is.

Also if you hang out at a gunshop or with friends/family that shoot pressure them to join these groups if they aren't members already.

Remember: NRA memberships are a good Christmas/Bday present.

push back

Right now, as things stand, although there is a law that the govt. cannot put together a federal gun registry, the means to do so exists and is being zealously guarded by the BATF.
That means is all the physical documents of gun transfers from 1986 to present and the gun logs of all defunct firearms dealers.

Although BATF is prohibited from compiling from these records into a gun registry, the records exist and are being stored by BATF against that day when that prohibition will be overturned. All it takes is a back room deal in the middle of the night like "Obama Care" and those records will be used.

Our next push back should be to legislate that all those old records (say any records of firearms transactions five or more years old) be destroyed.

After his success at Pearl Harbor, admiral Yamamoto said : "I fear all we have done is awaken a sleeping giant, and fill him with a terrible resolve". I hope it does not take a gun Pearl Harbor to awaken the 100 million gun owners that own 300 million guns in this land to fill us with a "terrible resolve" We all need to get as active as those against our 2A.

Yeah we need to continue the fight against the background checks, with them claiming their polls showed a 'strong majority approval" for them.

I think that was a VERY small battle,

There are people sitting around, think-tanking how to control guns,

We need as a whole, to start introducing NEW people to guns, and push the thought of the gun being the evil device back into the dark ages..

It will not be easy..

Now that our side has won a fairly considerable victory
Exactly what did we "Win"?

Today I can not do anything, gun related, that I couldn't do last month.

Fact is we didn't win a thing. We just didn't lose more, except some states.

Echo that M2. We beat back the first skirmish, that's all.

The antis scare easily but they'll be back...and in greater numbers.

We actually won quite a bit in several states. And in the senate we showed the president that he cannot pass gun control laws even in the one house of congress his party holds.

We need to run ads that include people having defended their, and their families, lives with weapons. Especially AR's. And if need be use young adults, if not children.

We need ads EXACTLY saying what was in the anti 2nd laws proposed by schumer, manchin & toomey.

Fight back against the lies with truth.
