What's the U.S. military's caliber of choice...

    They use 9mm NATO in handguns , for the most part, and 5.56X45mm (ie, 223 Remington) in rifles, for the most part.

    Of course, what they use, and "calibers of choice" aren't always the same.

    45 Colt for pistols and 45/70 for rifles. Oh wait, you are probably wanting now, not 125 years ago. In that case, you already have your answer.
