I'm interested in the latest production P226s, whats to say about them? PERSONAL EXPERIANCE ONLY PLEASE

i carried a stamped slide one as a duty gun for years it was definately comforting on many a dark night

just before i retired, our department started issuing the Sig 226R and i thought i'd give it a try. same reliability with just a bit more weight (different slide and rail) and a different feeling trigger (different mainspring)...still very accurate.

i think the Sig 226 defines the sig line...both as a duty gun and as a competition gun. i prefer the 228 for CCW and do most of my teaching with a 220ST, but if i could have only one Sig the 226 would be it.

I have a P226 I purchased less than two years ago. Never a single failure. Very accurate. I love it. You will too...

I set down a 226 DAK in .357 SIG that I was dry firing to type this response. It is a superb pistol. I shot a 9mm for years that pulled my fat out of the fire on at least one occasion. While I have a preference for the old stamped and pinned guns, I wouldn't hesitate to acquire and depend upon a newer production 226 such as my DAK.

I own a 226 in 40 cal. Even though I'm more into revolvers now, I still plan on keeping the 226. It feels great in my hand with the Hogue rubber grip panels, and it's as accurate as my Beretta 92, if not more so. Haven't had a single FTE or other problem with it in the last 500 rounds I've put through it. Can't say as much for the XD I used to have :)

i saw that topic and i wanted one entirely around one gun. not a whole company's line.

very smooth and nice trigger pull.. but the gun was too big for me -even tho the grips felt great, I limp wristed a rental, cpo, and new p226navy while firing. The result was a failure to lock back on last round for all of'em.. which isnt' a major issue.. but I sold it and decided to just stick w/ HK.

All were 9mm btw

Can't say enough about my SIG P226, all of it good, except maybe it's an ugly pistol. So ugly it's beautiful, had mine since 2000, about 5,000 rounds of .40S&W and .357SIG through it without any failures or malfunctions of any kind. Shoots great, makes me look good at the range, I trust it completely, it stays loaded at home.
Of all the pistols and revolvers I own it is the only one I consider a true weapon, bred for war. Mine is black stainless, no rail and tritium night sights. All of the exterior surfaces look like I just bought it ( except the barrel ). It is a brute of a pistol, I will never get rid of it, I may even get a 9mm SIG P226.
It is too large for carry so I use a CZ PCR for that purpose, or a SIG P232, I own 5 SIG's, all shoot great and are so far 100% reliable.
So by all means get a SIG P226, you will not look back, everyone should have a P226, a model 1911 and a CZ 75b in their collection.

i have one in .40 very happy w it. the only thing i dont like is that i could not buy one without the rail i dont like rails and i dont need them. i will not buy another sig or any firearm w a rail inspite of the fact that i am happy w their product

I bought my Sig226R from Cabelas last December. Since then, it has been back to the factory twice for the same problem (hammer wouldn't fall when trigger pulled). I haven't tried it since I got it back, so I'm not sure it's been fixed. Other than it not working, I love it :D
