Whats your caliber footprint?

I like to keep calibers as few and redundant while covering any possible need:

.22short
.22lr
.380
9mm
5.56
.30-30
7.5 Swiss
12 gauge

I have over 40 sets of dies on my shelf today. I actually have a couple for guns I don't have anymore though. I have 3 MEC loaders also, .410 20 and 12. My son has one or two Lee pistol progressives that I am not counting also. Almost every rifle that I have ever owned has only seen reloaded rounds.

Rifles
.17 HMR
.22 s/l/lr
.22 WMR
.223/5.56
.22-250
.308

Handguns
.22lr
.38 Spec
.357 Mag
9x19
.357Sig
.40 S&W
.45acp

Shotguns
12ga
20ga

Used to have more variety, until I had no use for some of them. My days of big bores are probably over - nothing that I need to make deaderer...

I've been trying to simplify for quite sometime:

-.22 lr
-.38/.357, my guns are chambered in .357 but the nearly all shooting is .38's
- 9mm
-.45LC/.454 Casull, my guns are chambered in .454 but mostly shot w/ .45LC
-.480 Ruger/.475 Linebaugh, gun is chambered in .475 but shot w/ .480
-.223/5.56, my gun will accomadate either
-12 ga

-.22LR
-9mm
-45acp
-38
-357

.223
6.5x55
7.5x55
7.62x39
30-06
7.62x54R

Reload for all of them except .22LR. Always looking for a new fun caliber to load for if it's in an interesting milsurp. Reloading is as much fun to me as shooting.

Man have I been slipping

I currently only have guns for the following:

22 LR 5
22 Mag 1
17 HMR 1
204 Ruger 2
223 6
7.62x39 1
308 1

32 H&R/32 long/32 short 2
380 2
9mm 5
40 S&W 3
357/38 3
357 sig 1
45 Colt 1
45 ACP 12
10 mm 1

12 Guage 2

Even though I reload, I think diversifying when it comes to calibers is a very good thing. During the last couple of shortages you couldn't get 9mm but 40 remained on the shelves for quite a while. Now I can buy all kinds of 9mm but 45 is still hard to find. At times 380 was non existant.

and I am sure there are others that I forgetting about.

I have multiple in most of these calibers. It seems like a lot until you think of guns you haven't bought yet but want. It all started with one.

As far as rifles go:
.22lr (shares with two handguns)
.223/5.56 (only have .223 on hand)
.30-30
.30-06 times two (OK, one is technically M2 ball)
.45 Colt (also shares with two handguns)

If and when I ever have any extra dough that doesn't go towards savings or the house, I might pick up another .22. The Henry Frontier has been calling my name.

In my mind there are a lot of calibers that behave very very similarly, even within my collection. Those calibers I have acquired just to be able to do different things with and I got a deal on them or else I would have bought some caliber I already had. Perfect example, I love 357 mag. My contender came with a 44mag super 16, so now I have both contender barrels and wheel guns in each caliber. A lot of my antiques I just buy to hang on the wall so I don't worry about those calibers unless it's something that can easily be found and shot reasonably cheap. Also, with a plethora of calibers you don't have to search for a single caliber of ammo...you have a few to pick from in this ammo shortage that we are hopefully coming out of. Just to confuse all of that though I reload only a few calibers 38/357 270 44 38s&w 256 win. Different reasons on all of those as well. .256 is hard to find and very expensive. 38 and 357 I shoot a lot and make high dollar factory load for cheap reload price. 270 I copy Barnes vortx ammo for 25 cents a shot and 44 I load very light so my contender doesn't turn into a nose ring.

Hmmm...

How many different calibers do you own? If you own many different calibers, is there a reason, other than collecting? I currently own rifles in 6 different calibers:

.22
.223
7.62x39
.30-30
6.5x55
.30-06

I dont use the .30-30 other than a truck gun. If I really wanted to I could eliminate that, and put my AK in my truck. But the .30-30 was my Dad's, so its place is safe & sound in my arsenal. I dont need my AR's. But they're just so darned fun to shoot, and my 16" A3 lives on the side of my bed. Why do I own a 6.5 Swede, you ask? I dont know, honestly. I shoot it at the range, I once thought of replacing my .30-06, which is my go-to-deer gun, with it. But that'll never happen; Im a guy that doesnt like to fix what aint broke.

Honestly, I could eliminate 3 calibers from my arsenal, lowering my overall "caliber footprint" to 3 different rifle cartridges. Thus making ammo purchases easy. What about you.?
You have a nice footprint .

Mine is similar . I would like to add a 6.5 x 55 or 7mm 08 and you cannot argue against the American classic workhorse 30-06 , but if I had a 6.5x55 I might go with a 7mm or .300 WM .

The great majority of such posts are really all about "look at me, look at me, I own stuff". A little kid can own stuff. The issue really, is how fast and accurate are you with it? Little kids can hit, slowfire.

I have guns who are primarily chambered in the following calibers
.22 LR
.22WMR
.327 Federal Magnum
.380 ACP
.38 Special
9mm Luger
.357 Sig
.357 Magnum
9mm Makarov
.40 S&W
10mm
.44 magnum
.45 ACP
.45 Colt
5.56x45
7.62x39
20ga
16ga
12ga

The following are secondary chamberings that I can also fire
.22 short
.223 Remington
.32 S&W short
.32 S&W long
.32 H&R Magnum
.44 special

22lr
9mm luger
223/556

Next I plan to convince the wife to get an old m&p model 10 snub for her revolver desires

17 rem, .223, 22-250, ,243, 6mm Rem, .270, .280, 7mm RM, 30-30, 30-06, 308, 300 WM, 338, .380, 9mm, 38, 357, 40, 10mm, 41 mag, 44 mag, 45 lc, 454 ca., .410 ga, 20 ga. and 12 ga. and I've probably missed a couple.

2 metallic presses - 3 shot shell presses

And then of course there are the RF, of which I don't reload for.
