    I have 12 1911's in 5 different calibers.
    1. Wilson Combat CQB Compact ... 45
    2. Sig Sauer C3 ... 45, my EDC
    3. Springfield Defender Series ... 45
    4. Sig Sauer Campaign Series ... 45
    5. Kimber Custom Shop Ultra CDP II ... 45
    6. Dan Wesson Guardian ... 9mm
    7. Rock Island CCO ... 9mm/22tcm
    8. Rock Island FS GI ... 9mm
    9. Rock Island FS GI ... 38 Super
    10. Rock Island FS Ultra ... 40 S&W
    11. GSG ... 22lr

    I love shooting them all.
I think the Sig Sauer C3 & DW Guardian are my favorite to shoot.
The Kimber and the RIA FS GI 9mm never get shot, probably get rid of one of these days. Would love to pick up a WC EDCX9

The one I wished I could have kept was any one of the ones we were loaned from 4th/7th Cav for a pistol match. (We were an aviation unit with .38s, but the match rules were .45)
The slides rattled on the frames, hardly a spot on them were still Parkerized, and one didn't even have a barrel bushing when we got it (according to the 4/7th 'armorer' ". . . it must have fallen out, 'cause it had one in the arms room . . . ").

I would not have wanted it to shoot, but to pull out any time someone started to complain about the Beretta, and started in with, "the Army should have kept the M1911s . . . "

The SS Springfield RO Target is my most accurate. It also cycles without issue. and very reliably. Doesn't hurt that it was won in a state police raffle a few years back!

I am constantly swapping grips around or out for something different. Is this normal behavior? The grips that came on my two Kimbers were pretty but I replaced them with G10 grips. The grips on my RIA were ugly smooth wood and now they are some sort of cool G10 and black. I would like a set of those mastodon ivory grips when I strike oil.

I am equally fond of my older Springfield Armory .45 that I used in IPSC competition and a newer Talo Colt LW Commander in .38 Super.

Like you, I've been bitten by the Dan Wesson bug. My first was a pointman7 followed by a guardian in 9mm follwed by a cco and then a lightly used model 15 revolver to round things out. All great guns.

I hate 1911s. They are crap................

That was just for variety. My actual answer is my Dan Wesson Commander in 45 acp. Great gun.

I have 5, 2 in .45, 1 each in 40sw, 9mm, and 357sig. If I had to choose which I'd keep, or for just plain fun shooting, I'd pick my old Colt 1991A1. Bare bones, but its shoots great and never fails me.

My 40+ year Gold Cup has never failed me and will never leave my possession. but after all those years the trigger is now in the 1.5/2lb. range, way to light for carry or defense use, still in all if you asked me to wager on a bullseye shoot it would be my #1 choice. :)

My favorite 1911 that I wish I could have kept was the one issued to me during Desert Storm. Yes it was your typical battle rattle 1911 but the barrel to slide fit and bushing fit was good so the thing was still accurate. I carried it as a backup since I was a M60 gunner. I also used the 1911 while clearing bunkers.

Other than that, I have been very happy with my inexpensive RIA 1911s. I own several of them and while not fancy or pretty, they always work.

Can’t pick just one…I like all of ‘em. The Emissary is the one I carry though, so I guess that’s the favorite. 9DF18899-4D9D-4797-BA55-D0AB2D40E7C0.jpeg

Your post reminded me about our XO's issued 1911. Colt issued in 1917, never converted to A1, tighter than the usual 'battle rattle' 1911A1, but loose enough that it would be trusty in combat. Also the most accurate one in my Arms Room, even after I'd done all I could for the six A1's.
So I guess I'll have to amend my answer to my Taurus or that 1911. I did get to shoot it once, on a range trip with another unit when the Major wasn't there. Very accurate pistol.

As the battalion machinist, I helped all of the company armorers go through the 1911's for our company shooting teams.. Some of the best shooters had very loose slide to frame fit but the barrel to slide and bushing fit was good.

This was right before they made us turn all of the 1911s and M3A1s in for the M9.

I will admit I got a bit misty eyed when I had to send that 1911, and some of the S&W Victory's and the few Colt .38's we had, back to Anniston when we got the M9's.

I felt the same way when we had to send our 1911s and M3A1s in. I actually liked the M3A1 and was pretty accurate with it.

    Excellent choice!

Love those "Colt" grips you have on your 1991A1l! They go perfectly with the matte blued finish.

I really like my Colt govt model which currently lives with my Dad, because he loves it above all our other 1911s. It doesn't have the best trigger of the lot, but the feel in the hand is the best of them all and he calls it a work of art.

The Garrison on the right has the best overall feel to me:
    upload_2022-8-11_11-1-28.jpeg

I had a problem with a grip screw on this Remington and took it to my gunsmith to replace the grips. I think he must have been bored because it came back with a competition trigger and slide job. You better be ready when you aim it because it you breathe on the trigger it is going off, in a good way.

This is my favorite carry gun. I even like the Crimson Trace grips which actually work quite well.

And this new Tisas which I just picked up this week in my new favorite budget 1911.

I'm sure more favorites will follow as I have more 1911s on the way. I'm looking to replace my Glock 43 with a Micro 9 or Ronin EMP.
