.38 spl. : easy & not really expensive to reload, easy to find components for, & like
someone said before : down-loadable for accuracy, fun & low cost and up-loadable for anything else.
My favorite? I'm torn between .22 WMR and 7.62x25. The .22 magnums in a good double action revolver are a blast. But, so is 7.62 in my CZ 52s or Norinco 54. It's a real screamer of a cartridge.
This is a trick question, right? Any caliber number starting with a 2, 3 or 4 is a candidate except for the 25ACP. Shoot the most is 22, love to shoot more if I could afford it, 45. Don't have any that I don't like to shoot.
So - in order of what I shoot and reload most, excluding by definition the .22s,
I'd say 9x19, .38, .45acp, .44spec, .40, 45LC, 380, 9x23, .30 tok, 44mag, and down at the bottom of the list, 7.62 Nagant. Haven't loaded any of the 7mmTCU yet, but that's a matter of time, not preference.
