I just skimmed this entire thread and I believe the only manufacturer I didn't see slammed was Browning. In fact it got praise for the .22 Buckmark.
I currently own guns by S&W, Taurus, Ruger, and on April 1st, Browning. The first three manufacturers all had "issues" that were easily fixed by something as easy as an ammo change (Ruger Mk 1), as simple as a gunsmith adjustment (S&W), or as annoying as a factory return for warranty work (Taurus). Time will tell if the Browning will have any issues or not. A Ruger .357 purchased last Fall is still being broken in. It may need to be returned to the factory for an adjustment.
I love all my guns. I won't count on flawless performance until I've identified and eliminated the flaws. Once that's happened, one gun is as good as another and they've performed flawlessly. I've never had a gun that couldn't be fixed, but I'm sure they exist.
Flaws that need fixing are the reason you need to own more than one gun. At least, that's the reason I give my wife.
