Rifles, however, I'm much better with... .22lr rifles, I can usually hold to an inch, inch and a half at 100 yards. My 30 cal rifles, I can hit with two inch groups out to two hundred yards.

And... that's about the best I can do most days. I'm really not very skilled at all.

(Note that none of this is from a bench, most is from standing)

I would consider that exceptionally awesome.

ps: as a bonus I just got my first Colt 70! Can't wait to see how she goes.

Oh noooo!

We are supposed to shoot these guns?
Oh boy! I must have been absent that day...

Humm, I got a youth single shot shotgun, "they" say you can't miss with all them pellets.
I'll take "their" word on this....

There's Davey and there's Me

Am I a darn good shot.Listen my brothers and Sisters I am very mediocre when it comes to pistols, but put a rifle in my hands, and I am the one of the best around Are there people who are better of course there are.I just haven't met one of them yet,and I have been shooting since the day I put on an Army uniform. I'm retired Army. Like I said There's Davey Crockett, and there's myself Paul M

Expert Pistol, Expert Rifle USCG - and using the "ships armory" not so classy MI & 1911 (so what if it was 53 years ago - I can still "Qualify", because I still practice). The medals on the wall allow me to brag! Thank you all.

I do alright. I'm good enough that i'm confident I can hit what i'm aiming at, every time. Never got into measuring groups or anything. I always went by the extremely low-tech measure of "can i hit clays at 100yds?" (with open sights)

Pistol: Expert pistol, per USMC. Came reasonably close to perfect score. It really pissed-off an officer that was there that a lowly corpsman whipped his butt. I didn't tell him that my Marine father taught me to shoot.

Rifle: DPMS LR308, average 3-shot and 5-shot groups combined at 200 yards is .74 moa. Best 3-shot at 200 yards is .192 moa. Best 5-shot at 200 yards is .254 moa. These are using factory ammo: Federal gold match Sierra's 168gr bthp. Not sure if I am able to do any better with handloads, but if someone wants to offer me some to try out... :) I love this rifle. She loves me. Would Prop 8 keep us from...oh, nevermind.

My 6 y/o can hit a can from 20 yards away with our 10/22 or the Charger with either a scope or red-dot. I haven't taught him to use iron sights yet, or to shoot past 20 yds, however S-A-N-T-A is supposed to get him his own .22 this year so we'll work on that this winter. The 4 y/o is not far behind him and does pretty good. Both are very respectful of firearms.

I think this poll is useless without stating what firearm is being used for the measure. When I voted, I only owned handguns. So, my answer was the 'tin can' one.

With the right gun, I have been able to shoot about half MOA. Well, that wasn't MY gun, so I guess I can only hit tin cans at 20 paces

To quote the original post...

"whats your shooting level?

i come on here and see people posting pictures of half inch groups at 100 yards

heck im lucky to have a 2-3 inch group at 100yards
"

The question is very vague. Pistol? Rifle? From what position is the shooter shooting?

I've read some pretty far fetched accuracy claims on THR.

Well, with Bullseye 1911 45acp pistol at 50yds, one hand, I can hit the black 10 of 10 times most of the time, (Bullseye Slow Fire target) From 25yds I can shoot a pretty good score. High 90's most often. Same with rimfire pistol. @50' I haven't quite made master just yet.

I also shoot either of my Ruger 44mags at 100yds with iron sights at a 5" steel plate and usually hit it 5 of 6 times from a standing two hand position.

Iron sighted lever action rifle out to 200yds at an 8" steel plate, ting 8 of 10 times. Standing.

With scoped bolt action rifle the 8" plate at 200yds is not even a challenge.

From a bench I have a rimfire rifle that will shoot sub 1" groups at 50yds with me at the controls.

Lets see... I have several targets from 200yds that have groups of less than 2 1/2" -standing with a support, from hunting class rifles.

Sorry, I do have target pistols, but no real target rifles. Anyone saying that they can shoot moa at any distance off hand, is either lieing or is a competitive shooter. -So, I allow that it's very possible, but not probable. Most of the hunting class rifles are not capable of it. Target barrels are.. But most target rifles are shot from the bench, not off hand.

If that's what you're looking for, then maybe it would be better to reword the poll question.

If in deed you're looking at bench shooting your favorite hunting rifle at 100yds, then moa is what your goal is. And 3" groups is probably fair for most shooters. Someone that practices a bunch, has worked up the best load, has tuned the trigger to something less than factory 5 pounds with no pre-travel and creep, then less than 2" groups are quite atainable.

3" groups at 100yds is not acceptable for me.. Even from just my hunting rifles.
