The supply of firearms is down and the prices are up, needless to say. If a person wanted to pick up a new pistol and bolt action rifle, how long into the future would be best.

    “Now!”:)

The rifle market is actually pretty soft now, deals on ARs especially can be had. Pistols are evening out.

If the republican wins, it still will take time for supply to catch up as there will be a run on ammo before that month.

ARs yes but bolt-actions seem in short supply. And they're more expensive compared to before all this crap started.

There will be panic buying up until the election, but demand will evaporate the day after, assuming the Democrat (whoever actually runs) loses.

Supply of some firearms is down, but lots of 9MM striker fire guns and AR's. As far as a bolt gun, I see a lot of Savage and Rugers available. Not sure what you are looking for. Mostly synthetic stock, lower end guns but they shoot fine.

My Magic 8 Ball is down now.

I would buy when you have $$ and find something you like. Is it worth $50 "savings" to buy it 4 years from now if you really want/need it?
What happens if that company goes out of business or the item gets banned in the meantime?

Honestly, if you want a pistol and a bolt gun I recommend you proceed with trying to purchase them. If you pay too much by the standards of later on down the road, then you just paid too much. But, if later on prices are high and supply is even worse then where will you be?

More like $150 or even $200 in savings if there's a rebate like in past times.

Keep watching your notifications and be prepared to buy immediately as deals go live. There is no more, "I'll buy it online when I get home from work, wake up tomorrow, talk to my wife, etc.", or or it will be gone. The only alternative is to write Traitor Joe to have him hand you unlimited arms and ammo, just the same as he's gifted the Taliban. Just don't mention to him that you voted for Trump or you will be the one reverse-labelled a terrorist, since we live in clown world, now. Honk, honk.

As often as possible, depending on your finances, and the availability of merchandise!

(I wish to note that I made a grammatical edit after posting.)

November 2022 will be just as, if not more important.

Honestly, If I wanted something I'd buy now. There is no way to predict the future.

I have an HK P30. I absolutely love it. Even today right now you can find a P30 for $700 or so. Why am I saying this? I bought my P30 about a year before the price drop and spent like 900 bucks on mine. A year later they were 600 pistols all day long. I don’t gnash my teeth over what I could have bought it for. I don’t think about how much it cost me. I only think about how much I love the damn thing.

So what I am saying is, if you find something you want and you can afford it I say buy it and don’t worry about couple hundred bucks here or there. You won’t focus on the money spent if the money is well spent.

Now as you can plainly see I am not a financial advisor by trade sooooooo grain of salt. :)

You're not going to get a deal IMHO, but with a bit of shopping and being selective - good stuff is available at not crazy prices.

What are you looking at buying? Many firearms have dropped to pre-insanity prices.

Don't worry about cost. If you want one, buy it now when you can find what you want. In 6 days, or 6 months they may become totally illegal to purchase. You could wait for a bargain and end up with NO guns!! Do you want to gamble??

I get them when I want them. If they are a ridiculous price (high), I want them less but even if it’s a turd but a ridiculous (low) price, they are harder to not want to acquire.

Choose a caliber and buy the ammo first, it will be easier to find a gun that can match it later. If there is anything this last year or so has taught people, don't get the gun and assume you'll find ammo later. :)

My one LGS got greedy. When this all started. He's coming back to earth now. I been watching his site for a 7.62x39 bolt rifle to come in. My other LGS who did not raise prices. That just opened this past winter. Is temp closed to remodel a second location. He plans to reopen the local shop in Oct. He knows what im after too.

We all are taking pay cuts every day until whatever day we are looking forward to. Inflation is a female dog. Buy now. Plus you get to enjoy shooting the gun and hunting for ammo. :)

    Rembrandt: Exactly.

Several of us recommended - even in 2011 - First buying a case of ammo, then shopping for the gun. I did this for my first Enfield (.303 Brit) as surplus ammo rapidly vanished from retailers
Remember the former Miami surplus business, Samco, with the colorful Cuban lady who answered the phone ? Some of you do.

Their surplus .303 (Not POF - UK/Euro/Aussie mix) sold out days after my order.

We were basically ignored when suggesting buying ammo first. "Yeah, right, no need for that".
