I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner. Here's a pic of my old NAA Guardian with a 10-round single stack magazine stuffed into it where normally a 6-round single stack mag would go. View attachment 1012391 View attachment 1012393
Probably not even then. They'll just say "if you love .45 so much, buy G30S." It comes with a 10-round magazine.
Since I had the safe open, let's compare some single stack 10 round mags to some other 10+ round .45s. View attachment 1012433 Hk45c, DW VBOB, Glock 21, Kimber warrior. top left to right As we can see, a 10 round single stack 1911 .45 mag makes a Glock 21 look short. If I wanted a 8-10 round .45 that was slimmer in the grip than a Glock and didn't want a 1911, the HK45C is about as slim as I've found, almost the same width and length of grip as a Gen 4/5 Glock 19 w/medium beavertail. M&P is pretty slim in the hand too, IIRC. Still gonna need that 1.5 or double stack mag though.
Stock photo of my 10 round 45 ACP. I've the identical pistol right down to the NIBone finish. It's a Glock G30S by the way. Height with the extended mag as shown is 4.80". Height of Colt Commander is 5.7" with an 8 round mag. The Glock G30S is almost a full inch shorter and holds 2 round more (getting that last one in the mag. is a mother, though). The butt is the hardest thing on a pistol to conceal. IMHO and YMMV
A very small subset of the shooting population cares that .45 ACP exists - PARTICULARLY when you view the market in terms of a global market rather than just the US. An even smaller subset cares about 10mm. And an even smaller subset of both of those subsets isn't satisfied by what's already available from Glock. There likely just isn't sufficient market interest to warrant tooling up for it.
Great looking rig !!! The 36 I had ran everything but .. LSWC .. which shouldn’t be shooting through it anyway pick of my 30S with a flat base mag Eventually.. Im picking up another 45acp pistol.. Right now .. Im broke after the Taurus GX4 & LCP MAX ….!!!
A single stack 45 ACP Glock is definitely pushing it in terms of holy war territory... but I'd probably buy one if it was available. A G48 is on my very short list (the gun money for it just went away to buy a Ruger Security Six).
If Glock would simply take the G30, give it a full length grip with flush fitting mag, like a Glock 19 length but fatter, I'd buy one. Still get the same 10 rounds, just wouldn't suffer that awful hybrid subcompact/compact grip length confusion the 30/36 have.
My Gen4 21 has the large beavertail backstrap on it, with a Pachmayr GripGlove. It feels like a 2X4 in my big hands, but it shoots to point of aim at every one of my targets This one defies the myth that a gun has to fit your hand to shoot properly. I wouldn’t trade this one for a single-stack but it would be interesting to see what a full size single-stack Glock .45 ACP would be like.
From what I have been able to gather about the working of glock's business deals, you will only get a response if that letter is delivered inside big big box of $100 bills carried by a couple hookers.
Who cares? As long as the classic 1911/1911 A1 designs are available, who needs another Glock for Glock’s sake.
I have tried to like the Glock 36 but I just cant. I have had friends that had a few and all had failures to feed and failures to eject. All were stock and no limp wristing. At over $500 that's just too big of a risk to take when buying a gun. Plus the 36 can only use it's own magazine unlike the 30 that can use the 21 magazine. And the 36 is huge compared to other single stacks. After waiting for Glock to possibly come out with a different and more thinner 45ACP single stack , I decided on the S.A. XDS45 . This thing is THIN !!! It conceals well and has magazines to make it 5+1 , 6+1 , and 7+1. All factory magazines. I firmly believe that if Glock would do something similiar , they would sell the crap out of them. The .45acp is still well loved. I say all this even though I am a true Glock fan , but when a product has a flaw , i will definitely stand up and admit the flaw no matter how much of a fan I am. I just dont want to take a chance on a gun that may be a "jammomatic". Here is my XDS with it's different magazines. I think this is how the Glock 36 show have been. Plus it's so thin !!!!
Does your classic 1911 ride with you in your classic Model T Ford when to go pickup some beer at your local stop and rob?? I mean who needs another modern car or truck??
Love this gun. Kinda had to give it to the girlfriend... Bought one cheap as something to launch 45s & carrying while not carrying my Kimber. The XDS9 & XDS45 both have the same size frame.
Ouch...One must admit that vehicles are so technologically advanced over what they were 100yrs ago... Firearms, not so much. All the "Latest and greatest" are still based off Browning Tilting Barreled Action which is over 100yrs old.. Heck most guns now-a-days are nothing but a P35 with slight changes. Polymers in firearms are getting long in the tooth too.
I mean that the 36 can only use it's magazine and not the other magazines in .45acp like the 30 and 21. For example the Glock 26 can use magazines from the 17,18, 19, 34, 17L , 45, and 19X .
I'm happy with my G36! Just put a box of Red army fmj through it( only 45acp available at the lgs). Worked perfectly and accurate too! Get the latest recoil spring assembly from Glock if you have trouble with yours.
What's the point? To make a more powerful ccw? That's also the same width as a single stack 1911? Glock 23, 22. You want slimmer than a Glock 23? A .45 single stack ain't going to be much slimmer. But a G48 is significantly slimmer. A .40 version of the 48 would be nice. Since it's still slim, and has a reasonable capacity without an extended mag. I see no market for a fat G48 in a .45 caliber. A novelty like that, is an officers 1911. For me, 9mm is a good subcompact round. .40 and .45 are better compact and fullsize rounds. I really don't need anything in between those.
