    Hey all,

I've been trying to find a NIB Ruger 96/22 or 96/17 and they seem to be difficult to find anywhere. My local gunstore guy says that none of his distributors even have them. In addition, I've looked on the gun auctions for NIB examples and while there are a couple, they are too pricey.

I really had my heart set on a Ruger 96/22 in LR, not WMR, but I guess they don't make them anymore. Even more disheartening is the fact that Ruger also shelved the 96/44.

Anyone have a clue as to the scarcity of the 96 series?

I thought that Ruger had stopped making all of the 96 series untill I checked the website. They are still showing the 96/44 as well as the .22 mag and 17hrm.

My local dealer carried a few 96/22's and had a hard time selling them because they were a lot more expensive than the 10/22.

My brother had a 96/44 very briefly. sold it quickly because of accuracy and reliability issues.

    That's kind of a shame.
They did seem like neat little rifles.
