I went to Longs Drugs the other day to replenish my supply of 5.56, but they were gone, and the gunny there told me they aren't coming back! I went to a local gunshop this morning and it's the same situation there too.

Did Winchester stop making white box 5.56 or did these places just stop carrying it?

I don't know if they are making White Box at all. I've been trying to find 180 gr. 7.62x54r PSP which I like for hunting and I can't find them either.

I've got 2 boxes of the 40-round valu-pak stuff... and 20 rounds of Radway Green.

I've never even owned anything in .223 before! :uhoh: :scrutiny:

Just picked up 5 boxes Winchester 223 Rem in 20 round White boxes 2 weeks ago at Gander Mountain. They had quite a few more boxes on the shelf.

I was buying Win Q3131 at Bass Pro for a good price over the Summer. Now they only have the white box .223. Winchester could very well be fulfilling military contracts.

I hadn't noticed it was gone. As for the military, their shooting a bunch of ammo. The military is even buying 223 from Israel.

Well, Winchester White Box .223 and 5.56 are entirely different in overall performance.

I bought 800-rounds of 5.56 Winchester Q3131 last month at $4.85/box. My source still has it, but now the price has gone up to $5.66. At least it is still available.

I'm reloading so I don't think I'll buy any more for now, since that purchase (plus other previous stores) has me up to about ???? factory rounds of 5.56-mm ammunition. :)

If Winchester has cut back on production of Q3131 it's probably because they are busy fulfilling current military contracts, which no longer include the 55-gr FMJ M193.
