Where to buy M-700 action only

    Good morning all,
    I was wondering if anyone knows were I could purchase
    a Remington M700 short action.
    Need one for a prodject.

    just go buy a cheapo rem 700 from wallyworld for a few hundred and steal the reciever.

    Every one I've seen--the action alone costs more than just buying a whole rifle.

    I don't believe Remington even sells actions anymore.

    At least Brownell's stopped selling them several years ago.

    Hunt around for a 700 beater at a fair price, toss the stock & barrel, and there you go!

    May not be what you want, but a friend told me about this. He was saying it's a 700 action copy that is heavily modified to be ideal for precision rifles. For the cost of having an action gone through, it may be a good way to go.

    If you're looking for just a 700 action and not planning on spending a lot acurizing it, find a used rifle at a gun show or a local shop. I've seen 'em go for $400; probably as low as you can find 'em unless someone is ditching their hunting rifle on the classifieds.

    I see actions in the snipershide classifieds from time to time. Might want to look there.
