I wanted to explore hunting appropriate game with a .22 magnum rifle in Bakersfield,Ca but at loss where?

Drive east of town on HWY 178 toward Lake Isabela. A few miles before you reach the mouth of the canyon, turn north on Rancheria Rd. After a few miles it turns to dirt. After about 25 miles, you'll be past all the no-shooting cattle areas and and find all sorts of places to shoot/hunt.

I hunt deer, quail, tree squirrel, rabbit, bobcat, ground squirrel, bear and even wild turkey in the area. But don't forget you will be in a non-lead hunting area.

For the 22wmr, I use CCI TNT Green 30 gr trucking over 2,000 fps.

Hardly if ever see yotes up there. If you want yotes, stay at lower elevations. Find BLM maps for public lands you can hunt on. Lots of areas out by Taft, Maricopa, but you have to stay out of the oilfields.
