I'm considering a move to Virginia this summer after living in Colorado for over 20 years. I spent a little time on the net last night looking for places to shoot in northern Virginia (around the DC area), but didn't have any luck.

Can anybody give me some info about places to shoot rifle and pistol in that area (including a gun clubs)? How about an overall opinion of Virginia's general firearm friendliness?

I like Gilberts the best. Nice staff and no of that Macho ****. They let you shoot your own ammo. Others in the area insist on you buying theirs.
Warning. Dont go on a Saturday. Its across from one of those Jewish Churchs and theres never any parking!

Haven't been lately, but I always enjoyed it there. It tended to get really crowded, especially on the weekends. Not a big range, but it's free if you buy your ammo there. Can't wait to head back and shoot some skeet.

I've got one of their targets here... '6 miles south on Rt. 29' in Warrenton VA.

Which county in Northern VA are you moving to?

If Loudoun County, give me a shout. I'll sponsor you in the local IWLA so you can use our rifle range.

You can't beat the NRA HQ Range for quality and clientele. Clark Bros is my second choice, but only when shooting BP or longer distances than 50yds. I avoid Blue Ridge like the plague.

I'm going to check out Gilberts this w/e.

Bull Run shooting center is a good place for shotgun games.
