This sucked. I was on my way out of state with the wife, so the CCW was at home. A few miles from home a road rage incident erupted that ended up, literally, at the front door of the PD (we were chased by another vehicle, I instructed wife to pull bumper up to front door of station house). The idiot followed us into the parking lot; the guy came out of his car with an excuse, but it just as easily could have been a gun or a club. PD detained him and we were sent on our way.

If you mean REALLY needed it for something like self defense then I am lucky that I have never really needed one. I have never even pointed any of my guns at someone.

I have never needed except for the range thankfully, so I said never.

Guess I could have said on my person, as that is where it always is unless I'm in bed. Then it's the nightstand.

Not counting seeing a 8-point buck outside the window on the first day of deer season, I've never needed my gun when I didn't have it handy, and I've never needed it for defense.

Never needed it...

But once a friend of mine jumped out of the bushes on the side of my house in the dark while I was returning home from work at night. Pitch black, he jumps out of the woods and yells "Gimme yer cash mother(insertbadword)!!!"...

The minute I saw the shadow jumping out my hand was on my weapon and I was beginning to draw as he started yelling....

But it never cleared the Kydex... I noticed that the offensive object in his left hand was Coors Light, and that the "perp" was my future roommate Steve.

He did confide that he had second thoughts after he saw my movement and almost had a "movement" of his own in the bowel region. :D

Dogs attacked our chickens on Christmas morning. My side arm of choice was on top of the safe. Given the day, I decided to let the dogs live, but I got their attention.

Last time I needed my firearm I was still in LE. Since retirement I have been fortunate to never have needed it. If the need ever arises, it will be where it always is, ON MY PERSON!!!!!

I live in a socialist state that denies me the right to lawfully have a weapon near at hand 99% of the time. Sucks to have real need for one and being the good guy you left it at home.....

I was in Texas and my Ruger was in Arizona. The carjacker had a small revolver. My luck he didn't shoot me. I even made him give me my laptop computer before he drove off with my rental car. LE found car abandonded at the mall. Last time I travel unarmed, even to Kalifornya.
