Glock 21 Gen 4. Has the double recoil spring and is a blast to shoot.

+1 on the Springfield xd, my father in-law has one and it is a great gun. He uses it as a bike gun and by the night stand

I really liked the feel of the XD MOD 2 grip and the PPQ grip texture .

I liked the look of the M&P 2.0 , but I thought the trigger pull was to long and the grip texture is like sandpaper . I don't sweat that much , so I don't want that sandpaper grip .

I'm sick and tired of repackaged "Glocks" and plastic-framed "SIGs" from different makers. I would like to get my hands on something little novel like QX4 with rotating barrel.

I agree with msp45 about the USP45. I used to have one. Should not have sold it. Grip is a bit blocky but in a good way.

Another CZ 97 BD guy. It is a fun soft shooter for a 45. Really feels good in my hands which is important for .45 if you ask me. Glocks don't feel good in my hand (comfort I mean). I'd try and push my budget or go used. Upgrading the hammer/trigger is relatively easy and modest also with cgw. It does have a looong creepy SA pull. DA is decent/good. Trigger/hammer fixes that a lot.

I am considering the MOD 2 , but the 5" and $20 dollars more than the 4" . I just am on the fence if the XDM is more accurate or is that just marketing . I looked at them last week , I am going to try and shoot some of the ones that I like this week .

OK, I'm pretty sure this is a typo, but just for clarity...
What do you think about the G 20? Exchange a barrel and mags and you have a 10mm.
You don't have to exchange the G20 barrel to have a 10mm, the G20 is a 10mm.

Of course if you had bought a G21, which is a .45 ACP gun, then you'd need to exchange the barrel to get a 10mm gun.

Hmmm, whatever direction you choose, I'd say pick the model, and be a little patient. I believe the run on guns is passing, and you can get deals if you like.

I wasn't hunting for a .45 specifically, but I checked GB a few days ago. Someone listed a pretty clean Metro Arms 1911, 5" barrel, with hard chrome finish no reserve, I put in a really low price "just because".... if I won it for that, good, if not I could track it.
I already have a low-end (Turkish) 1911, didn't desperately want this one.

I watched it sell for $285. Somebody got a pretty solid deal there.

S&W M&P is in your price range. Full size or compact is available.I have the full size and I like it. The only down side is the mag capacity. The 14 round mags make it into a monstrosity. The standard 10 round mags are still better than a 1911.
