My seven:

1) S&W K-22 Masterpiece with six-inch barrel

2) S&W .357 Magnum with five-inch barrel

3) Colt Government Model in .45 ACP

4) Ithaca M37 shotgun in 12-gauge choked MOD

5) Browning Superposed in 20-gauge with twenty-eight inch barrels, choked IC/MOD

6) Winchester Model 70 in .30-06

7) Winchester Model 52 in .22 LR

Interesting question. I think I have about everything covered in my current collection, except maybe for competition.

H&R (I think) 12 ga. single shot shotgun. Inherited from my Dad.
Winchester 94 lever action 30-30
M1 Garand
1911A1
Browning Hi Power
Colt Pocket 25ACP
Ruger MKII

Dionysusigma, in case you're making a shopping list... My birthday was yesterday, you know :)

M1911A1
M2
AK-47 (A real one. Not the AKM or MAK-90)
I love my K31, but I think an '03A3 is more practical.
Ithaca '37
Webley Mk. IV
SMLE

Mosin-Nagant M-91, pref. Finnish surplus
Commercial Mauser 98
Colt Police Positive Special
Colt Detective Special
Single barrel tip-up 12 ga.
Walther PP
Winchester '94 in .30-30

Only 7? Bummer . . .

Assuming it actually is 1950 for the moment, and I'm not going to buy a large caliber express DB rifle or jump through the hoops to purchase a machine gun, I could make do with the following:

Winchester M70 in .30/06 to hunt all thin-skinned, non-dangerous game worldwide.

Winchester M70 in .375 H&H to hunt everything else

Winchester M52 Sporter because everyone needs a .22 rifle

S&W Pre-27 .357 Mag, 5" barrel a finer home defense gun you'll never find

Browning Superposed in 12 ga for both bird hunting & shotgun games

M1 Garand Patton's "greatest single battle implement" deserves a place in every home

S&W M&P snubbie Yesteryear's concealed carry choice . . .

I considered the state of the art in ammo circa 1950 too, as well as the pistolsmith's art, in generating this list.

If I adjusted $7700 in '50s firearms to 1920's dollars I could still have a BAR, and enough left over for a Colt Government Model.

Realistically? It would be Colt handguns (Gov't model, New Service in .45) and a decent long arm capable of taking big game... model 70 Winchester would be fine .375 will kill anything I'd care to hunt. A Browning Auto -5 could fill the shotgun role. A Colt DS would be handy, or a Colt 1903 pocket model .32. I'd keep a Marlin 39A as my .22.
