Ok I am passing on the Ruger MKIII after hearing of some minor ammo pickiness. Not to mention 2 friends of mine who both own one have said they have had issues although not horrible in anyway with certain ammo, they still recommend I go with one. I am also not crazy about the grip. I just dont want anything that is picky with ammo. It is hard to pass up for the accuracy is really something!! I believe the Buck can hang just fine in the accuracy department as well.

Aside from the buck mark seeming to be less picky and after 3 weeks of research and reading has helped determine that to be true. I like the grip on the Buck Mark better as well as the disassembly not to mention I have first hand with my buddies and I like it...it chewed thru every brand I put in it, including: Rem, Fed, Winch, and CCI. So unless I am completely missing a .22lr pistol this one looks to be the one.

Now here is the question? Which one? To narrow this down here is what I am thinking. For starters, I dont need anything over 5.5" barrel. It has to have the URX grip, love this grip!! Sights are a toss up but I dont think I want the Fiber Optic. I am concerned about indoor shooting, some ranges are not well lit...and I am not sure how good the fiber optics on certain Buck Marks models that have fiber optic sights are. Stainless would be nice but I could do either. I would like to have this a long time!! So Stainless is certainly a strong option. Oh and I dont need the top rail for mounting this will never need a scope or anything like it. Let me know what you guys think and which model best fit my liking. Or let me know if I am missing something.

Rimfire guns are notoriously finicky about their diet...You need to bite the bullet so to speak and buy a few boxes of different brands and slug weights to try. I have had great luck with Federal Auto Match for instance and when I buy a new .22 that's always on my list.

Whilst Buckmarks have acceptable accuracy they are not true target guns by any means. Your choice should be driven by it's primary use.

buckmark is a fine gun and the urx grip is fabulous. that said, my experience with them is that they are just as picky as a ruger, and don't like being dry or dirty at all. Also, my buddy has what he thought was a stainless but turned out to be nickel plated that the plating is flaking off the chamber mouth and bolt face from the bolt battering the barrel. not a big issue though. If you're going to have it forever, forget cost and get the one you really want. For me, that would be the slab side stainless. Don't worry about the front sight. you can buy fiber or regular front sights very reasonably if you don't like the one that comes on your gun. Personally, I like the fiber sites as my eyes begin to age.

I have a fairly new BuckMark Micro with a 4" slab side barrel & URX grips. Probably only put about 2000 round through it so far. It was kinda picky about what it wanted to eat for the first couple of hundred rounds (wanted HVs) but now it takes pretty much anything, very reliably. I've got old eyes so I put a HiViz front sight on it. It's a gas to shoot and remarkably accurate for the range shooting I do. I think it helps me shoot better than I really am.
I keep it clean & lightly lubed & it's sweet.
At the same time my son got a stainless Micro w/ the 4" bull barrel. Same break-in stuff, now very non-picky about ammo.
For what it's worth I'm less accurate with the bull barrel than I am with the slab side but that's probably just me.

I have tons of Federal Champions, I put it thru my M&P15-22 with no issues at all! As well as my M&P22. Will this ammo suck in the Buck Mark?

Buckmarks are fine guns...However, so are Rugers. I have 5 Rugers and they all run like Swiss watches. I'd guess I have ran about 5k rounds in the past year thru one of them without a hitch.

I bought this one...but only because feature for feature, it was cheaper than the Ruger if equipped apples to apples.

It eats anything I feed it and only gets picky if you start trying rapid fire drills...then and only then is it picky over ammo.

Buy whichever Buckmark you want, and then just get the plain front site if you decide to change it later. $12 and it just screws on so anyone can do it.

I checked out a number of buck marks and it looks like I want to get a buck mark camper stainless with the FO sight. I did like the FO sight. Now if I could only find it in a package with the 3 mags.
