@1KPerDay: No doubt your shoulders and your ear drums are thankful! yep those cocky elephants. You know they've been up to no good when all your peanuts suddenly go missing!

I didn't pick 22LR solely because I have enough to shoot moderately for some time. I would like to see more .223 because i am down to about 300 rounds and a 30 round magazine is just too easy to go through before i even know what happened.

For themselves, yes, totally agree. But seeing the impact on new and young shooters is really sad. Now is a bad time to be coming of age and/or getting into shooting.

Thank you for recognizing that. I start seeing red every time I hear "If you didn't stock up on ammo it's your own fault."

I'm sorry, but I did "read the writing on the wall" as soon as I started getting politically active and understood Obama's anti-2A beliefs. However, I was only around 14 when he got elected the first time, and I couldn't do anything about wanting to stock up except try and convince my parents. Considering my father has a stockpile of all of 50 rounds of .38spc, I guess I was kind of successful.

But now that I've come of age to actually start purchasing on my own, I have started stockpiling as much as I could while still trying to get some time behind the trigger. My funds are hardly unlimited, though, so I couldn't make a cache of thousands upon thousands of rounds as soon as I turned 18.

I was planning on getting a press early in December, but I was convinced to wait until Christmas to see if I would get one. Not wanting to jump the gun, I wanted to wait to buy components until I knew I had the press. The rest, as they say, is history, and now I have a single stage sitting in a box in the closet.

I did what I could, and now am being jeered at by those who have actually had the time and money to stock up because I "wasn't wise enough to see what was about to happen."

Yes, I saw the warnings, yes, I tried to do what I could, but I'm still low on ammo and without components, and telling me that it's my fault for not stocking up isn't helping anyone.

Hey, it's not all doom and gloom. You'll inherit you're father's stockpile someday. :D

.45 acp.

I got one middle of last year and I'd love to take it out for a spin more often but when I went to check for ammo at the store today they literally only had one box of .357 sig on the shelf...

You are an exception to the rule. The vast majority just did not prepare.

And I understand that completely. I'm just tired of people lumping me and people like me under the same umbrella of "too foolish to prepare".

And on that day I will be able to rest comfortably on my single range session's worth of .38 Special, with my mind at ease, knowing that I am set for life. :)

I shoot mostly rimfire, I have also started shooting my CZ and Marlin bolt guns a lot more than the 10/22's. Makes the limited supply go farther, also shooting air rifle more. We will weather this shortage, and as soon as most people reach their limits on their cc some of the buying will slow down. BTW I voted 22 I have some but it is a finite supply.

45acp. I've been shooting the heck out of one of Christmas presents now I'm down to about 500rds and not sure I want to continue.....

Not on your list of options, but...That would have to be 44 magnum, ammo and brass. I've got 1,000+ of everything else.

None here either.
I've taken a step back and worked on accessories, knives, airguns, etc.
I honestly expect this ammo issue to continue until the next election.

Which does not change the fact that the endlessly repetative refrain of "you should have prepared better" and "its your own fault" whenever the subject of personal ammo shortages is brought up is both annoying and unhelpful. :banghead:

I was able to use some of my .22LR stash to supply the Boy Scouts for a marksmanship training weekend this month.

Starline Brass is showing .44 Mag as Back Order OK and expected delivery Available: 03/08/2013. Since they are still allowing back order you have nothing to lose if it pans out.

Worst case if you can use like a hundred mixed cases let me know. I shoot a lot of .44 Mag and have a small mountain of the brass. I could clean some next week and send them to you. Just busy this week and weekend.

I'm curious. How would you like it phrased, so that you feel better?

You see I'm a big fan of personal responsibility. But if I can work with you on this I will.
