I was reading this thread from last month -
http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=101328

and it was AR-specific, so I thought I'd ask about flash hiders for FAL rifles.
It doesn't look like the Vortex is available for FALs?

Here's an STG-58 flash hider for $6 - http://gunthings.com/falfront.htm

Here's an L1A1 flash hider for $10 - http://www.northridgeinc.com/I_fnfal_accessories.htm

of course, this is what I _really_ want ;) : http://guns.connect.fi/rs/L1supp.html

If you are looking at flash suppression only then I think that the Belgian is the best. I think that the Browning Bird Cage is the coolest looking one.

Call up Smith Enterprises. I know there is a .308 Vortex, and I am pretty sure there is one for standard FAL threads. If not stocked standard, I am also pretty sure they will make up something like this for little or no extra.

I need to get my barrel threaded and trade the brake out for one of these also, so post the results if you try that.

I have the old school STG58/Maj.Stolli suppressor just cause it looks cool (yeah yeah I know, not the best reason...) and as a flash suppressor it doesn't work very well unless you properly index it during installation; which can be pretty tricky I found.

The cool thing is you can also use it to cut through barbed wire and launch rifle grenades! Whoo Hoo!

You know...if you're into that kind of thing.
