    Dear THR:
In your opinion which generation Glock 19 was the best? I have voted for the second gen. I personally think second generation was the best production of glock.

I do have G19 2nd generation, made in USA. Not a single complaint to date. No parts changed except that i have placed on it night sights.

    Thanks

Gen 4. They fit most peoples' hand better, they come with more aggressive grip texture, an extra magazine, and a larger mag release.

I vote 3rd Gen. Never heard of any problem with a 3rd Gen G19 that I can remember. I'm sure someones probably had an issue or two with them, but IMHO it is just a great gun.

    I am actually not a Glock fan although I own a G26, G19 and G33.

    Of the 19's I like my 3rd generation best (but I haven't shot a 4th gen).

I voted Gen4 but I also own a Gen3; both have been flawless. Approaching 3,000 rounds through the Gen4 and way, way more than that through the Gen3.

    Actually it can.

A friend gave me a G17. I didn't like it, so I gave it back.

Later he gave me a G26. I really tried to like it but I gave it back also.

Later I borrowed his G19 and G26 for some new shooters to try.
The thing was my friends dog ate the G26. It looks bad but is still shoot-able.

I returned the G19 but kept the G26 for another new shooter to try.

When I tried to return the G26 this time, my friend said, Don't you even think of bringing that gun in my house.

So, I do have a Glock that is even uglier than normal.:D

There can't be one that is best.

According to the Glock adds, they were all Perfection when they were sold.

So who you gonna believe, Glock, or some poll?

Key word "most." They don't fit my hand at all, to the point of being unusable.

When you buy a Gen. 2, you don't have to investigate when it left the factory and whether or not there are any ejection problems.

Gen. 2 feels a bit better in the hand, but Gen. 3 works for fingers too. Edge goes to the Gen. 2 in my book.

I have a third and a fourth, they both always go boom, but the grip on the fourth is more comfortable to me.

Just to avoid any possible confusion, I'd like to add that there are no Gen1 G19. The first generation of the G19 was made to the G17's Gen2 style

I had heard Glock had made some for ATF testing, but didn't know any had been released for sale.

I've seen a couple of reputed Gen1 G19s, but they were all cut down G17s...there was no border around the texture and they had G17 length slides

I think there were problems with the Gen 3's with lights on the rail. They didn't cycle properly IIRC. I know that was not the G19 with those issues. I'm just showing that the Gen 3 was not always perfect as everyone remembers. They are great now, just as the Gen 4's.

I believe that most of the Gen's had a issue or two that was taken care of in short order. Gen 4's are no exception. I've had two now for a while and have put 1000's of rounds between them with no issues.

I like the Gen 4 because of the backstraps and the oversized mag release.

Any Glock I buy will be a Gen 4 from now on.

A buddy of mine has one. His dad is a retired DEA agent and gave it to him. It has trouble feeding hollow points. Next time I see him I'll ask if I can take a picture of it. He usually keeps it in his truck.

^^^ Something that rare is a truck gun? I mean, I know it's just a Glock, but it is apparently an extremely uncommon one.:uhoh:

He didn't realize how rare it was till I called him earlier and informed him. He was a member of the meth task force himself for a while. He used it as his duty weapon then.
