I'm Looking to get into 3 gun matches and thought it would be interesting to see what specific model gun you prefer for each category, Rifle, Shotgun, Pistol and WHY??

So let's have at it - What are the models you choose in each category and please elaborate on WHY you selected your picks. Obvioulsy, you dont need to have them, just which ones would you like to have for each category?

Here are my pics...

Rifle = AR15
Shotgun = Saiga 12 or Saiga 20
Pistol = Glock 19

For me I would look at what I currently own and could use.

Rifle would be a AR15.
Shotgun is Remington 1100 Tactical
Handgun choice for me would be the hardest. Do I go with the 1911, which I shoot the best, or move to a high cap like one of my XD's or M&P's.

I did remmember reading an article about a heavy division that some places were running.
Rifle had to be a minimum of 30 caliber. Shotgun had to be a 12 gauge, and handgun had to be 45. Would be interesting to see that now.

I'd go with...

M&P15X, REM. 870 and probably either my M&P45 or Sig 226 9mm.

Those are just simply the guns I shoot best.

Rifle: AR-15
Shotgun: Mossberg 500
Handgun: Glock 17/19

That's what I own and what I would use. A semi-auto shotgun might be of advantage though...

I would go with:

Colt AR-15 Sporter.

Browning Hi-Power

Mossberg 500

Like others have already stated, these are the guns I already have, and they are the ones I shoot best.

All of the 3 gun matches I have shot using an AR for the rifle 16,18 or 20". For the shotgun most have been with 1100's in 20 or 12 but I have recently swtiched to the Saiga 12 and using it is like cheating. For the pistol I use an SVI, STI or glock 34 depending what I am currently using in uspsa/idpa matches.

Benelli M1Super90Tactical, Glock 17 (or Browning High Power), 20" AR15 Heavy Barrel.

The ACOG has been replaced with a Leatherwood 1.5X6, as my older eyes need help out at 300 yards.

I use the Benelli because I got a screaming deal on it. Always been a dream to own one. Used to use a nice 870. I changed to the Glock 17 about 5 years ago from a Ruger P95 that I loved, but I kept hitting the Ruger mag release at the worst times. I built my first AR15 years ago, and this one is about 3 years old. I started out with a L1A1 (Aussie FAL) that I built 8 years ago. Still love the L1A1, and it is accurate, but I have come to like the AR15 a bit better. I will trade the lower on this rifle for one of my M4'gery's lowers with the Magpul collapsing stock for the next 3 gun match in May.

I would not spend a lot of money getting started. Learn the "game" and build your arsenal as you go.

A simple AR-15 with a good quality low powered scope. 18-20 inch barrel.

A glock 17 or a high cap 1911 in 9x19 or 40.

Mag fed shotguns open up a can of worms in regards to equipment divisions. Get a tube fed shotgun (pump or semi) and use it for a while before spending the $$$ on a Saiga.
