I'm buying Springfield armory XD .45 tomorrow and I can't decide which model would be best the 4" service or the 5" tactical. Most of my shooting is plunking at the range but I would like to try my hand at ISPC and bowling pins. All opinion will be appreciated.

If you plan to carry it, the 4" would be more convenient. I strongly recommend you go this route if you ever think you may end up using this as a carry gun.
If it will only be used at the range and competitions, the extra inch of sight radius will be slightly more helpful.

I'd go for the 4" version unless you already have a carry gun. The slight advantage, IMO, is not worth the extra unwieldiness if you ever carry the gun.
