Which Scope to buy from Dick's for Rem 700

The team primos is a good scope equal to the bushnell 4200 3-9x40 like I said the primos has more eye relief and the bushnell has rainguard (good for fogging). These 2 scopes have glass that is the same or even better than the Leupold VX-III 3-9x40 (honestly Leupolds are overpriced IMHO and I'm sure these kind of deals forced Leupold to upgrade the VX-III line) with the same warranty so it is kind a no brainer in my thinking. Like I said check out the optics talk forum there is a new thread there on these 2 scopes and search there are many people who recommend these scopes as they compare well even to the Zeiss Conquests. I do like Leupold for some specific applications but it seems most people recommend them like zombies recommend brains. I do not get the VX-I or VX-II lines as there are such better deals to be had out there.

On the fogging comment above the only thing that really reduces external fogging are the hydrophobic coatings like the bushnell Rainguard. They are well worth the money IMO and that is why I went with the Bushnell but it is usually more money but a while back SWFA was selling the 3-9x40 Elite 4200 for $250 which was a great deal.

Cocked & Locked.

Actually I have four Bushnell scopes. Three 3200's (1 3X9 and 2 4 X 12) and one 4200 (6 X 24)
If I were you, I would not sell the 3200 to get the 4200. The 3200 is worth more than you can get for it as a used scope. If you really feel you would like the 4200 then get it and put the 3200 on something else.
I cannot give you a fair comparison between the 3200 and 4200. The 4200 is used for long range varmint shooting. Trying to compare a 6 X 24 to a 4 X 12 is not easy. When both scopes are turned to the same power I would like to say that the 4200 has a little more clarity, but I can't say for sure.
I have used the 3200 3 X 9 in low light (dusk) conditions. I will say that turned to 6X that I could see slightly better through the scope than with the naked eye. It gathers light well enough that it will let you shoot until the end of legal shooting hours.

Thanks Poky.

I have one Bushnell 3200 3x9 and have compared it (last several evenings while hunting) to my 18 year old Leupold VX III 2.5-8, and a 10 year old Burris Fullfield 3.5-10. The 3200 is comparable to both the Burris and Leupold. All three would allow accurate shooting beyond the legal time.

The Burris and Leupold might have a very slight edge of 2-3 minutes, but it ain't much for the dollar difference. The Bushnell 3200 has thicker crosshairs than the Leupold and Burris...that helps make it more appealing at dusk.

The 3200 seems to require slight refocusing when I change the power...the Burris and Leupold are not as critical.

Interestingly, I have two of the made in Japan Weaver Classic CK 4X fixed power scopes. They are as clear and bright as any of the above. These are advertised as having fully multicoated lenses.

My vintage Redfield 4X is also bright but the thin crosshairs are more difficult to see in the evening.

I can really see no significant difference between any of them...that is with everything set on 4X.

Until someone can convince me that a 3-9 4200 (or Monarch) is brighter than the Bushnell 3200 3-9, I'll just stay with what I have. Besides, my 3200 has the gloss finish instead of matte and I don't see those around.

1. Zeiss makes riflescopes.
2. Leupold makes riflescopes
3. Burris makes some of their riflescopes.
4. Light Optical Works Japan makes riflescopes for Bushnell (Elites), Weaver, Clearidge, ATK Nitrex
5. US Optics makes riflescopes
6. Nightforce makes riflescopes (although Light Optical Works provides tube and optics for larger Nightforce scopes)
7. Asia Optical Japan makes scopes for Sightron and rumored to make one of the Muellers.
8. Kenko Philippines makes all Nikon, some Simmons, ATK Intensity, Bushnell Legends.

There are various CHINESE, Korean, and Taiwan makers that I'm not really familiar with.

One Chinese scope maker is called YOH. They make some BSA scopes such as the Sweet 22 series of scopes (see picture). They probably supply scopes to other of the low cost vendors. YOH claims to supply Bushnell and Millet, although they don't specifically say riflescopes. There are some lost cost Bushnells, like the Bushnell Sportsman, and Rimfire series that are made in CHINA.

Centerpoint is marked as MADE IN CHINA, not MADE in Philippines. Centerpoint is NOT made at the Kenko-Philippine plant that makes all the Nikons.

Oh yeah I forgot that the Nikon Monarchs are not made in Japan anymore ah well they are still nice glass. The Bushnell Elites are still made in Japan though and I will still take a Nikon Monarch or a Bushnell 4200 Elite or Sightron over a Leupold VX-III or any Burris any time no matter who makes them.
