Hey folks , I have a quick question about the Uberti Whineyville Dragoons.
Now on the Buffalo Arms site it shows a photo ( stock pic I guess ) of their Cimarron / Uberti and the only screw that protrudes through to the right of the frame is the Hammer screw, the bolt & trigger don't go all the way through.
Now on Cimarrons own site ,again probably a stock photo, it shows a Whitneyville with all three screws coming all the way through the frame .

Whats the deal with these two uberti / Cimarrons ? .
Or is it just me going Bat nutz ?...:uhoh:.

btw I ordered the one from Buffalo Arms and hope it comes as pictured with only the one protrusion,,,,,

My Whitneyville only has one screw hole on the right side. I bought mine from Dixie last year. I bought a Howell conversion cylinder in 45 Long Colt. Deadly accurate. with Cowboy rounds. Anyway, you will love it.

Mr Wack,

The Whitney's used leftover Walker frames which, as most know, don't have the trigger and bolt screw pins drilled (and of course, the corrected wedge position!!). However, some of the last Whitney's had the "New" squared grip frames that would appear on the 1st Model Dragoon. These frames may have also had all three action screw holes drilled through as well (probably so). So both would be "correct " for reproduction purposes. I personally like the Walker grip and the Walker drill pattern of the major Whitneyville production. All Dragoons use the same Walker size frame.

BUT! Remember!
If 45 Dragoon hasn't fixed your Dragoon, it really isn't a Dragoon!

He fixed mine and its Great!:D

Thanks for the comments fella's ,
Mike , I wasn't aware of ( some of ) the last ones using the 1st mods grip so i learned something today , i like the walker frame shape , it's got curves ,,, i like curves .
DD , Mr goon has already worked his magic on an 1860 of mine and a little treatment at the Goon clinic is probably called for in the whitneys case also.
Gonna shoot it a tad first though ,, i can't help it man,,,

Thanks Dicky!!!! (Checks inna mail lol!!)

Mr.Wack, thanks for the kind words, I'll be ready when you are! (Don't hurt it too bad before it gets fixed).

Yep! Looks nice!! Congrats!!

After paying better attention, I must apologize (apparently I can't read!!) to Terry!! I knew it was him but I thought his avatar said "doug" instead of "dog" !! Yikes!!

I have some short stiff springs of the correct diameter that I insert in the lever first, followed by the original spring, then the latch and pin reinstalled. That seems to be the best solution so far. Makes for a nice "progressive spring ".

Mike

Oh yeah, be careful removing the pin. You don't want to break either ear off (ask me how I know!!)!!

Hi Mike, Wow! got the Walker back on Friday. It took only one week for the turn around. Your work on the Walker is magic. I would never shoot another Walker without you up grading it. It is a pleasure to shoot a Walker without it "Choking" up and fouled in a few cylinders. The Goon's up grade allows heavy loads to be used for days and never needs cleaning. I shoot a 220 LEE RN over 50 grs of T-7. This load is running over 1,000 fps. I will be shipping a 1st Mdl. Dragoon down for an overhaul.

Thanks so much Terry!! You're awfully kind to "spread the word "!! Keep me posted on how she's doin!

Just for clarification, Terry's Walker was sent back for a hand spring fix (the service wasn't a week turnaround! Lol!!)
He opted for a spring and plunger set up making his the first big frame to receive this mod (from me).
