My kind of gal...

Fighter pilots face the same issue...

Each nation has a different standard for verifying a kill. What may be a "confirmed" for one nation becomes a "probable" for another. Thus, scorecards, if I may use the term, must be approached cautiously and with a jaundiced eye. Additionally, as she became famous during Stalin's Soviet Union, there is a real possibility that there was some inflation of numbers for propaganda purposes. After all, morale had to be kept up at home and fear instilled in the "Hitlerites."

Seems like time to mention the movie "Enemy at the Gates" with Jude Law. Although not about this lady, an interesting true story of a Russian sniper.

There's propaganda in every war, by all sides. If I'm going to take X kills and subtract Y from it for every famous sniper, might as well not bother.

I could replace the words "Stalin's Soviet Union" with any country in the world and it would apply.

Same goes with number civilian deaths. Both sides always have different numbers these days. The truth usually lies in the middle.

I'd like to know about the song by Woodie.

He sure don't get much air-time.

Thanks,

salty.

Website says the lyrics to the song Woody wrote were found amoung his other songs, doesn't say anything about it being recorded.

Here's a link of Snipers from all the wars and their confirmed kill numbers. For many confirmation was done by someone who eye-wittnessed the acount.
