I love my Sig P229 it is the smoothest, most accurate semi-auto that I have ever owned or shot. So, I figured I would start a poll to see who else felt that way. I wanted to post here on a non gun specific site so as to get a more objective poll.

I liked the one I owned (one of the earlier non-railed versions). I voted "Good gun, but like others better" because I think Sig should offer a railed and non-railed version (other than the pricey SAS model). The rails kill the smooth classic Sig shape for me.

Sig 229

I have one of the old non-railed SAS models I don't enjoy it shooting as much as a 1911 at the range but if the "sht" hit the fan it is a great duty-service pistol.
If I were a cop it is what I would want to carry.
I can't seem to shoot the Dak trigger as well as a single action but man is it rock steady
every pull the same and no safety to worry about !

The Sig 229 is a great gun. I owned one along with a P228. Never a single FTF, FTE or any other type of malfunction. They were sold because, at least for me, they were too big for a carry gun. Head over to http://www.sigforum.com and you'll find a lot of company over there.

I'm saving for the p229 Elite in stainless......you've got to feel the grip, it's seductive.

I also prefer the classic no rail Sigs. My P229 is an older model. My next Sig will be a P239. I would like to get another P229, but will go with the SAS Gen 2 so I can get it with out the rails.

I like my P229 with the Hogue grip. Just fits the hand fine. I have the non-railed version. It's one of my favorites. I shoot .357 sig and .40 S&W with it, making triple sure I have the proper barrel installed........

Sorry old photo doesn't show Hogue grips........

I have the non-rail version with a DA/SA trigger. I really like the combo of DA/SA as it allows me to have one in the chamber, carry it that way and not need to worry about a manual safety. The long double action trigger is a safety in its own way as you are unlikely to accidentally actuate the trigger in holstering etc.

Its been very accurate and dosen't mind what I feed it :)

I'd rate my Sig 229 on an equal par with my Beretta 96 -- they are my two favorites ...

its a good gun too pricey though , i like Ruger better i have a new SR9 on layaway at my gun shop i only paid 429.00 for it NIB with 2 -17 rd mags , it has more features then a Sig.

Don't leave home without one..

...

I own 3 of them, what does that tell ya.. ;)

Pure joy, 40cal's & 9mm, with added bonus of CT grips

The P229 is one of my favorites. I seem to be able to shoot it better than almost anything else, and it is perfectly reliable.

I currently have a 229 and a 239 in my collection. A Nickle 220 and had a 245.
None of them has ever had a failure of anykind. 239 is my summer carry gun. 229 the rest of the time. I bought some of the Mec Gar 15 round mags from Top Gun supply. 15+1 rounds of Winchester 127 gr. +P+ is very comforting. Also both guns are target gun accurate. What's not to love?

A Sig 229 is what I usually carry around town. Have it on now, a classic non-railed one.

I've trained with it as much as my 1911 and know what I can do with it.

The full grip points naturally for me. On a draw, the sights are nearly perfectly aligned by time I look at them.

I adjusted to the SA/DA by forgetting about it and simply pulling through the same way all the time.

Very accurate, helping be believe the BG is likely the only one getting lead if I do my part.

I have other guns that I like, maybe even one or two I like just as well, but none I like or trust more than my 229. I never worry about it working, it is as accurate as my best 1911, and it is very easy to carry on a daily basis. Really if I could only keep one of my guns, it would be my 229. Several thousand rounds have been sent down range with it and never a problem.

My .40 P229 has been 100% reliable and one of my favorite handgun purchases of all time. I've own dozens of handguns over the years and parted with many of them due to various reasons but my 229 will stay by my side. I use the P229 as my dedicated ccw, it's on me almost all the time when I'm out and about.

I am actually considering a second 229. My local shop has a 9mm P229 SAS "custom shop" model for $675 and I'm tempted to buy it.

I'm sure it's a great gun, but SIGs' controls are reversed from my others, so I don't do much with them

C/O,

i voted as good, but like others better. "best" is just too hard for me to say, as i like many other models just as well. i will say that the P 229 is an outstanding handgun, and one of my favorites.

I loved the P228 I used to have, but the P229 is probably every bit as good or close enough, and deserves a place of honor in any Sig menagerie consisting of the P220, P225, P226, etc. i.e., its d@mn difficult to choose a favorite Sig pistol model! - skeeter_08
