I just found out that the Orange County, CA Sheriff's Dept. does not allow lasergrips on CCW handguns.
I have a S&W 340PD J-Frame that used to have Crimson Trace 405 lasergrips installed on it. The 405's are the compact grips that have the really neat "air pocket" over the backstrap.
This design really improves the wrist-breaking recoil that the 340PD produces, and actually makes this into a gun that you can comfortably shoot 38+P and .357MAG out of.
I mostly use this revolver as a pocket-carry gun, so what I am looking for is a rubber, closed-backstrap, compact set of grips - by compact, I mean that the bottom of the grip is flush with the bottom of the butt of the frame, so that your pinky will hang off.
I have seen closed-backstrap grips by Hogue, but they have a pinky-rest on them and they are too big for pocket-carry, IMO.
Pachmayr also has compact grips, but with an open backstrap.
Can someone please point me in the right direction?
