No rosy colored spectacles here. John was a troll's troll. On the other hand, I am not a board moderator or administrator, so that is of no personal consequence to me. John's holding cranky ideas and vociferously defending them never bothered me either, mainly because I never found it important to "disprove" his ideas...or anybody else's for that matter. The errornet has always had a high chaff-to-wheat ratio ever since the BBS days. Take what you want, leave the rest. Those who spent the most time trying to shout John down (the very definition of an exercise in futility) might better have been served by simply posting their own ideas with an explanation of their superiority to Gunkid's plans and saying no more.
Was any dialog with John ever concluded with anybody changing his mind from where it was when the discussion began?
Did it ever bother John one bit to be called a felon?
Again, I'm not a mod or administrator so I won't speak to their problems with John. The average board member, I would think, could have skipped his posts or put him on an ignore list and gone on with life.
