OK, who went to the Shot Show and got the word on Colt and Winchester closing.
Give it up. Inquiring minds want to know (and buy something if we need to).

Winchester has a bunch of new products. They discontinued their classics (94, 70, 1300) and started making badge-engineered BAR's, etc. They're not closing, but they are closing their CT plant. And FN only has a contract to use the name until '07. The Belgians are maneuvering. Who knows what they'll do. Winchester could come back in two years as an all-American company, or it could fade, or it could become the price-point brand for Browning.

Don't know about Colt, though they've been looking anemic for a long time. It's like they lost the will to live.

Cowboy Action is huge, and the two brands most associated with the Old West (at least in the movies) have failed to genuinely capitalize on it. It's so utterly pathetic I can't begin to fathom it.

I met Mark Roberts at the Colt booth and asked wether Colt had been sold (citing 'net rumors) and he said NO it hadn't. He went on to say that(paraphrasing) "everythings for sale at some point, though". So maybe in the future but, that could happen to any company......look what happened to Chrysler.

I didn't speak with Colt or Winchester, but I heard the same questions asked to both while I as looking at products. Colt said they hadn't been sold. The rep replied in a manner that suggested he had answered the questions about 1000 times, and it was barely noon on Thurs.

Winchester had a bunch of shotguns out (O/Us and SX2, SX3 mainly), and they had a display section for the 94s, but the display section was nearly empty. This was right after opening on Thurs. morning, and I didn't check back later, but when I looked the display had spaces for about 10 varieties of 94, and the spaces were marked with a tag of the specific model that was supposed to be there, but the display only had one rifle (one of the ones with the octagonal barrel.)

Sorry I don't know more.

haha... thats a good one vex, my dads gota hear that one. colt has been doing pretty bad for a while now, it all started when they stopped making the python.
