Why are Brownings the red headed step child of holster makers?

This thread originally was going to be if anyone knew of a quick release mount for an Ultradot onto a pic rail.

But the whole reason I need such a thing is that you can't find a holster for a Buckmark that isn't some generic POS or one that is marketed as a Buckmark holster, but really is one made for a Ruger or S&W 22lr. I finally had a custom one made, but now I find myself needing to take the Ultradot off it to carry it while hiking.

The same problem applies to Browning (FN) Hi Powers and their various clones. There are a lot of them out there, but good luck finding a holster made for one. What you find is "a holster for a 1911 will fit". No, it doesn't, not really, and if I'm carrying one, it is for important reasons, and I want a holster made to fit it.

Anyone know a holster maker that actually makes good holsters FOR Browning products?

Yeah, there are a lot of Hi-Power specific holsters out there. A holster for a .22 would probably be less common regardless of the model.

I have no answer for a Buckmark, but Hi-Power holsters...

Milt Sparks https://www.miltsparks.com
Simply Rugged (they show the Buckmark) https://www.simplyrugged.com/gun-model-chart.cfm
Lobo Gun Leather https://lobogunleather.com/handguns-accommodated/
Tucker Gun Leather https://tuckergunleather.com/pistol-holsters-leather/
Ritchie Leather https://www.ritchieholsters.com
Kramer Leather https://www.kramerleather.com
Mitch Rosen https://mitchrosen.com
Davis Leather https://davisleathercompany.com

Andrews Custom Leather http://www.andrewsleather.com/traditional.htm

Just about any holster maker that has been in business for more than 10 years probably has a form for a Browning Hi-Power.

Watching for information. I had the same experience. Big fan of Hi-Powers .

I make my own holsters and have made them for Rugers, the Voquartsen Black Mamba and others with red dot sights on them. I copy a design my Ernie Hill that has worked for years.

The trick is to get the right tension so that you can walk around with the gun comfortably but can actually jump if needed and the gun will stay put.

This is one I made when I was wheelchair bound but the only thing different is the way it's mounted. Just three screws and it's a belt holster.

Hopefully you can find someone that can make one for you. 20201013_110139.jpg

I think more people should try making their own holsters, whether it be Kydex, leather or a hybrid. In reality, every person is unique in body shape, holster fit, needs and wants. While buying one can sometimes be the perfect fit, it's not always the case.

Maybe you'd consider this a generic POS, but it works well for me when hiking or squirrel hunting and there's enough room to keep the red dot on. Unsure of the brand, there's no tags or anything other than the buckmark patch.
