Why semi auto handguns are my favorite type of arm...

Nope; following your reasoning I thought you were being generous. He would have gotten a D- from me. Of course, I'm not a college professor...;)

Actually, given the disposition of most college professors these days a D- on my gun topic would be a miracle and a tribute to my good standing with the pro 2A crowd.

It was written for FUN and not as a serious treatises. And, I almost was a college professor. In fact, I did that for a little while.

I have quite a few of both. I like revolvers better and shoot them better... or maybe it's vice-versa.

If I take a few nice centerfire revolvers and centerfire service pistols to the range, I will shoot the revolvers better every time.

Maybe it's because I'm middle-aged and grew up shooting them.

Here's some gratuitous revolver porn. I got this S&W 625 recently. It sure is one sweet shooter.

I believe what you say but would never expect someone to shoot a DA revolver as well as a SA semi-auto pistol. My 9mm 1911 cut my revolver groups sizes in half. The 1911 trigger is peerless.

I usually cock the hammer and shoot them single-action. Another cheat/hack is barrel length. My favorite revolvers all have barrels at least 6" long, with a couple of 7.5" and an 8 3/8" thrown in for good measure. With one of my Glocks or Berettas or whatever I do okay. But when I pull out something like the Super Blackhawk, it suddenly looks like I really know what I'm doing.

Over about 5 inches the longer the barrel on a revolver, the worse I shoot. I can’t keep the gun on target when it is front heavy.

There is surely no rule about how a gun must be used, and firing a revolver SA is perfectly acceptable. But I wouldn’t compare that to shooting a semi-auto pistol. You would not be able to use a revolver that way in the vast majority of self defense situations where the results of the shooting are really important.

I practice DA shooting too. My preferred HD handguns are revolvers, and I can shoot them very well DA at HD distances. My carry revolvers tend to be DAO.

Everyone's different; it seems like the longer a revolver barrel is, the better I shoot it. :)
