Today the final vote was received by the Senate Judiciary committee for the Personal Protection Act (SB214). The bill passed the committee by a 3:2 vote.
Voting for the bill were Senators Zien, Fitzgerald and Stepp. Senators George and Carpenter voted against the bill.
The committee added three amendments to the bill, all designed to help get extra support for the bill from legislators who had some concerns. None of the admendments water down the bill to any serious degree. You can view the amendments on the "News" section of our website at http://www.wisconsinconcealedcarry.com .
The bill is tentatively scheduled for a floor vote in the senate next Wednesday, October 22nd. It is certain to pass, and we're told that the number of votes for the bill may surprise a lot of people.
We are now in the final stages of a battle that began ten years ago. The odds of getting the votes to override a Doyle veto are very good. Whether or not we get those votes depends upon gunowners. We need to get everyone writing and calling their legislators, demanding that they vote for concealed carry.
If you've already written, call. If you've already called, call again. Get every last gunowner you know to call as well. We have to keep the pressure on.

As gunowners, we have the power and the numbers to make this happen. Let's not let apathy destroy ten years of hard work.
