I am in the doghouse. Wife happened to walk in just as I pulled the trigger on an ammo order from outdoormarksman.com and the look on her face was that of pure shock. Up until now she hasn't paid any attention to ammo purchases because I've only bought a little at a time. Whoops. :D

Speer 165gr or 180gr gold dot (40 S&W) packed in 250 round bulk boxes for $39.99. :what: I put a good dent in their supply. :neener:

I feel your pain.

Went to a gunshow with my wife, complaining that I was running low on my 7.62 x51, and I wanted to pick up a few hundred rounds of aussie surplus.

Found the ammo, bought a few hundred rounds, and went home.

Same day I bought a new large ammo box, not one of the puny .30 cal cans or .50 cal cans, but one of the big honking things. Wife told me there was no way I would ever fill up the thing full with ammo.

Got home and started to count out and put in what I had. Filled it up with assorted rounds of .308, 9mm, .380, .357mag and 12ga. I then walked to the living room laughing, cuz I had run out of room in the can, I didn't have any place to put all of my stripper clips of 7.62x39. Wife came in the room and looked at the filled can, and the other filled can I had laying around, and told me I could no longer buy anymore ammo. :(

It's a shame, I am broke, but I really need more 7.62x51 and 7.62x39 and 9mm, and .380 and.......

I.G.B.:

Go to a busy highway and, using the cardboard from some of the boxes, hold up a sign that says: "Will work for Ammo". :D

Ahhh...nothing like having an ex-wife. :D

By the way, if you guys need any advice on discreet stashing, economic subterfuge, or asset shifting, let me know. I'm a past master of the art. In fact my ex still doesn't know how many guns I own or when I bought them - and we shared joint accounts! ;)

When I was recently purchasing ammo in the gunstore (no online purchases here in MA) my fiance got really annoyed when I picked out a box of 30-06 and some .22lr....

Turns out she was annoyed because she wanted me to get more .22lr for her to use. :D
I had only picked up 200 rounds... we left with about 1,200.

Demand a receipt of her last beauty shop visit, and you'll have to pay a lot for medical treatment because of your heart-stroke. :neener:

Guess why I know that!

Operational security is vital in these things. I have sevral hidey holes that SWMBO does't even suspect.

Eventually they'll tire of the act and just surrender. A typical comment from my wife nowdays is "hey, you got another package from UPS today" followed by rolling of the eyes. I always take the box downstairs into my "armory" before I open it.

You and I have the same wife! ;)

I broke my wife's spirit a couple years ago, now she knows if she can't lift the box UPS leaves then it must be ammo for me! :D

Oddly enough my wife doesn't complain about my ammo stocks. But woe unto me if I try to sneak (or openly carry for that matter) a new firearm into the house that wasn't discussed beforehand. She's a keeper though. She lets me buy what I want as long as the bills are paid and I don't max out the credit cards. She just wants to be in on any new firearm decisions.
By the way....as some who have seen can attest, she can shoot and hit what she aims at. Another good reason to keep her happy.

^^ She truly does look like she's enjoying herself. Definitely a keeper.

I must admit, my wife might not know about every pistol that comes into the house. All glocks look the same, all 1911's look the same etc. ;)

Typed words cannot describe what occurs when you inform the wifey she cannot pull her car into the 2 car garage.

She "thought" I was using the garage to paint, stain , do some woodworking and other household projects...

She gets inside, and then she opens a door from the kitchen area to "see what I am working on.

Umm...well...I had to put the two pallets of cases of shotgun ammo, powders, shot, one new MEC reloader... reloading supplies - somewhere didn't I ?

Maybe it was just because that was Shotshell reloader #7, or was that #8 ....I forget. :scrutiny:

Maybe not...I couldn't understand a word she yelled...made the dogs bark in all the excitement as well... :D

Like Standing Wolf , I learned that firearms and related stuff is bunch easier to keep up with. So I kept those and got rid of her.
