yesterday was are 1st day of muzzy season here in ohio,so i played guide 4 the wife.hunted a little privite place only about 60acres or so all south facing hillside.as we were loading the quad 4 the ride 2 the top of the ridge,we spot a group of deer heading up the hill 500yrds or so away.were about 1/2way 2 the top i spot 4 bedded down in a down fall.we get 2 the top an i tell my wife were are going 2 kill the biggest one out of that group.
we start are stalk down hill with the wind in are face,we peak up over a small rise and there still there about 75yrds away.i bino them,make sure no
shed bucks,pick out the biggest one an tell my wife the one in the middle is the the deer your going 2 kill.she just smiles an says ok an gets ready 4 the shot.i move 2 the right 2 get out of the smoke screen that i know is coming,when i do the deer stands up an starts 2 walk toward us.theres a small clearing right at 50yrds an i tell the wife when she hits that spot i'll stop her you shoot her right in the white spot on the neck.(i know my wife an she knows her gun,i seen her put 3shots at 50yrds that were touching)
the deer hit the opening,i stop her right in the opening,she looked up an the smoke rolled and the deer dropped on the spot
the wife got her cva wolf when her father passed last yr,he had never shot it
we worked up a load 4 it,240gr 45cal hornady xtp/black sabot pushed by
90grs of 777 powder.sighted in dead on at 100yrds.
thats her 2nd deer in 2 yrs with her wolf shot 1 last season at 125yrds, she likes 2 buck hunt thru are reg gun season,she keeps telling us she knot going 2 shot one unless it is bigger than the 150class 10pt i shot a few yrs ago.so come muzzle season she turns in the meat hunter lol.
