• Possible Downtime Alert

I am working to migrate THR from the current cluster to a new one. I would like to get this done before the weekend, but it's unclear what the timeframe will be, as testing is still ongoing. As I am writing this the new (rebuilt) host is doing a burn-in to ensure that everything will keep running under load.

When the migration happens users will see a Cloudflare message indicatating it cannot connect to the server. This is expected, and depending on how the migration goes this may last from 30 minutes to 3 hours - I won't know more until testing the various migration options is complete and I have finalized the plan.

More information is available in this thread.

As always, thanks so much for your patience.

Wilderness defense loads.

I probably should. I avoid flying stingy critters like the plague. I was never affected much in my youth. I can remember 25yrs ago when I was in the field, I put my arm into a wasp nest and got stung at least a dozen times. I killed them, went back to work and a half hour later it didn't even hurt. Now, one sting and I swell up and the area is likely to turn hot and black. Last summer I got hit on the ankle and it hurt to walk on it for three days. I assume I have developed an allergic reaction somewhere along the way.
I Had a bad experience in 1985 with a wasp. Then nothing until 35+ years later. Benadryl took care of the yellow jackets....

I saw today where Hornady is getting into the market segment.
“Backcountry Defense”

One of my LGS (Ace Hardware) had a couple of different cartridges of the Backcountry Defense. I'm thinking about trying a couple of boxes of the 10mm. 👍

For acp, I load the RCBS 45-255KT over a load of Unique from Ayoob's old Book of the 45 from years ago. Fairly hard cast and I have shot it through 6" of aged pine, one deer (through chest clear), and many bowling pins. Not a plinking load by any means. Next step up is my 29-2, Lyman 429244 and 21 2400.

I have an RV on a lake in the woods. We get Black bears every summer. I don't often carry but when I do it's like to be a 357 or 9 MM. I have carried a 44 Mag and a .40. The problem with a 44 Mag is it's too slow for accurate follow-up shots. It bucks pretty good. I have very little concern about bear attacks. The wild animals that bother me are wearing clothes.

Ya. Exactly why I carry my G22.3 for the 2-legged vermin. G30.3 for the 4-legged ones.
