Will a 6.5 Creedmore change your life

It is not the 6.5 performance or the gun writers or the advertisers - it is Vladimir Putin that interfered with the love of my .308!

I’d much rather discuss boots than the same rehash of how fantastical the .270 is because it goes to 11.

I like both of my 6.5 Creedmoor rifles, both intended hunters and they shoot very well. If circumstances were different I would sell off my -06s and the gap would stretch from 6.5 to .300 Win Mag. I feel the Creedmoor is perfectly sized for game through deer and hog and since I already own a .300, why settle for a lesser 30 cal or even (gulp) the tiny .277s

I’ve never minded the recoil of anything I’ve fired to date, but the wife and kids do so in a way, 6.5 has changed my life. They can practice with a low recoil round without the ammo expenditure of an AR. I can spend less time reloading 5.56.

For work and everyday I like my Keens or Irish Setters in steel toe. Only $400 boots I knowd ‘bout is worn by horsemen.

Anderson Bean usually, newest ones are Arapaima, since I’m on my 3rd sole of my elephant pair, and I’ve had a rotation of a couple pairs of caiman black and brown as my dress boots for years, with my “kickers” being ostrich.

I thought we were talking mens hunting/hiking boots, not Boss Hog style Cadillac-kickers... :neener:

Back on topic I find the Creedmoor to do everything I need nothing I don’t and it doesn’t have terrible recoil to boot is it better than other cartridges that’s up to you to decide

P.S. For me it is!

Reminds me of the old saw about fat girls and mopeds.

"Both fun to ride... as long as your friends don't catch you."

I was just about to say the same - usually you don’t see threads take a turn for the better, but this one is an exception.

I honestly haven’t ever seen much advantage in hunting boots. If it’s wet, I wear hog boots, if it’s cold, I wear pack boots. I have some cheap gumboots I’ve used for 20+ years, spray the uppers with 3M every couple of seasons, just a little oversized to fit wool socks and a toe warmer for cold stand sits. For heavy rucking in hill country, I’ve typically paid for Kennetreks or Crispi’s, but just got a pair of Zamberlan’s on a demo which feel fantastic so far. The last two mountain trips, I wore a pair of Merrill goretex trail hiking SHOES and Kennetrek gaiters the whole time, had my “boots” lashed to my pack.

I tend to have strong ankles and tough feet though, so I don’t have much demand for the best of the best. One of my hunting buddies has exceptionally sissy feet and zero structural integrity. I have to tape his feet each day, and he uses custom orthotics in a pair of Lowas, otherwise I’d be carrying him on my pack after the second day. Luckily for him, there’s a solution which works for him. Just costs a lot more than mine.

The .270 gets a pass tho, it really didn't like the 150ablrs I tried to feed it.

My Tikka .270 isn't impressed with the 150 ablr's either.

And while I'm tempted to try Superformance to see if it really does deliver an added 100 fps. with the same accuracy, H4350 is doing everything I could ask of it. Consistent 1/2 MOA pushing 140's 2650 is just about as good of deer medicine as anything I can think of. It reminds me of a slightly more accurate version of my old 6.5x55's, which I really liked for deer sized game, or an overgrown 6.5 Grendel, which was accurate and fun to shoot, but didn't give me the terminal performance on deer I wanted.

The only thing I could ask for from H4350 is if it metered as well as IMR 8208 XBR. But no other powder I've tried meters so precisely or so smoothly.

Give superformance a try, I have had no issues breaking 2800 with 140s from any of the 3, 22" barreled CMs I've had. It meters well too.
Only down side is others have reported inconsistent velocity spikes on occasion. I've personally not noticed this, but my shooting temps only vary from about 60-100 at most. RL-17 also delivers very close to the same velocity as superformance, and excellent accuracy. I use both in the same cartridges, which makes me wanna try Sup in my .375 Ruger.

Like I said, I might. I just don't feel I have a good reason to. I mean, who wants to mess with 1/2" groups? :D

All the footware I've ever owned combined didn't cost as much as two of those lol.

The first sets I had were sponsor gifts. I didn’t pay for boots for about 10yrs, went through two or three pairs of competition boots each season, and of course, had to have high fashion stuff for glad-handing appearances and street use. Admittedly, I became accustomed to that quality of boots, so now that I’m not on the perk plan any longer, I’ll pay what they ask for them, with a smile on my face.
