• Possible Downtime Alert

I am working to migrate THR from the current cluster to a new one. I would like to get this done before the weekend, but it's unclear what the timeframe will be, as testing is still ongoing. As I am writing this the new (rebuilt) host is doing a burn-in to ensure that everything will keep running under load.

When the migration happens users will see a Cloudflare message indicatating it cannot connect to the server. This is expected, and depending on how the migration goes this may last from 30 minutes to 3 hours - I won't know more until testing the various migration options is complete and I have finalized the plan.

More information is available in this thread.

As always, thanks so much for your patience.

Will Optics Overtake Iron Sights on Pistols?

The size issue I'm talking about is the window. I don't need, or want, a window wider than the slide or frame of the handgun. It does not need to be much taller than suppressor sights. What it needs to be is strong enough that if I want to use it to rack the slide, I can do that, without damaging the unit. I'd prefer steel or titanium instead of Aluminum and plastic.

It seems optics have overtaken most rifles these days. Will the new micro red dots and other optics do the same for pistols?
Doubtful that optics will exceed 50% of total handguns with current technology. No telling for the future - handguns may develop into very different weapons in the next few decades.

trijicon has several models that use batteries. i wonder if those are holding up like the non-battery "dual illumination" model

In a nutshell no. However the Trijicon (adjustables) and Leupolds DeltaPoint are the best right now. Isnt not even worth mentioning the others.

Right now I am waiting on real world reviews of the Deltapoint Pro. As some are trickling in out into the market now.

I think optics are the way to go for target shooting or hunting. I don't think the are quite there yet for SD use. IMO of course.
