Will this sight fit all octagonal barrels?

I want to put peeps on a couple of my guns but don't want to waste money. I'm prepared to drill and tap for the mounting screws but don't want to find out too late that the barrel is too wide to accept the flush fit of the sight.

This sight is supposed to fit octagonal barrels. My barrels are 15/16" or less.

The add says it fits all CVA barrels which were 15/16" across the flats and also Traditions DeerHunter which I do not know the size but it must also be 15/16" across the flats.
So if yours is 15/16" it should fit. If yours is a little less then that it won't fit right.

I understand your frustration. The ad is incorrect, since I have a CVA caplock "longrifle" that is not 15/16 across the flats so it does not fit "all" CVA octagonal barrels. Probably meant to say it fits CVA, traditional, half-stock, plains style rifles, So I'd say it will fit your 15/16 - flats barrels on your rifles, but not smaller.

I'm going to suggest that you look at a Marble #30 rear sight base https://www.midwayusa.com/product/8...justment-and-1-2-to-1-hole-spacing-steel-blue and use a Marble Peep Sight attachment https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1...versal-sight-blade-only-peep-style-steel-blue . Price is very close to what you were considering. OR if you don't want to drill and tap the barrels but you want some sort of peep sight, you could opt for a fixed height peep from Marble's that fits into the dovetail that are found on some muzzle loading barrels https://www.midwayusa.com/product/679676/marbles-bullseye-rear-sight-fixed-438-height-blue, and Marble's has the same thing in an elevation adjustable version https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1...h-double-step-elevator-338-to-535-height-blue
